"We are "ratified at being able to state, that the Railroad meeting, held at the Court House on Saturday was harmonious and enthusiastic. The audience was very respectable, but not eo large as we hoped for. Perhaps the opponents of the proposed tas did not turn out, and that the frimnds of the project alone constituted the audi* ence. If so, we are certainly outnum bered, for certainly not one fourth of the voters of the County attended the meeting; but we know from personal knowledge that many friends of the road did not attend, and therefore, we have confidence that the vote on Tuesday will decide the issue iu favor of the railroad. The meeting was addressed by Col. onel’s Seward and Spencer. Both gentlemen made thrilling appeals to the enterprise and spirit of the people, and commented eloquently upon the important advantages of the South Georgia & Florida Ruilroad. For tur. ther particulars we refer the reader to the proceedings of the meeting pub lished in another column. REFRIGERATOR. We forgot to mention last week, that Messrs, A. & R. Smith have on exhi bition and for sale, at their store, one of Lesley’s splondid Zero Refrigera* tors. It is a beautiful piece of i'urni. ture, will be sold at the manufacturer’s price, with freight added, and consti tutes one of the*ni#st valuable addi tions to the household furniture that can be imagined. The purchaser may defy tho hot weather , keep his ice from melting, and cool his butter, milk, aud every thing else with impunity. EARLY WATERMELONS. Our old friend, J. G. McMillan, was in town to-day with a two horse load of very fine l’ierton Watermelons, but tee wore ahead of him, for wo had some from “our garden’ a week ago. We will own up however, that he far surpasses us in tho size of his melons. Ho raises tho genuine Pierson, and always brings them to market fresh and delicious. Southern Cultivator. —Wo wel. come the Jnly number ol this sterling Southern Agriculturist, to our sanc tum. It always brings us good advice a month in advance, as to what we ehall do, and how to carry on the ope rations of farming. If one has only a garden , it is his best gardener. Large Onions— Mr. H. F. Jones, of Thomasville, has left at our sanctum a fine sample of his crop of onions. We have seen nothing that equals them in size, and we think we may safely challenge comparison. toiflfyou must uso medicines, use Professor Kay ton’s remedies. For sale at Dr. P. 8.
