Jurige Marvin, of Pensacola, has been,
appointed, by President Johnson, Pro
visional Governor of Florida, lie was
for twenty-five years Judge of the
I’nited States District Court for the
Southern District of that State, but
has been a refugee since the com
mencement of the war, residing in the.
-City of-New York. The appointment
is very proper. All the insurrectiona
ry States are now provided with Gov
ernors. Let them hurry up their or
ganizations.

To the People of Georgia:
For the purpose of enabling the
people.of* Georgia the.more easily to ;
prepare themselves for the exercise of
the rights ’of citizens, I..hereby, pro
claim and direct, that’ the. Ordinaries,
in .the several counties .of the State,
.he and are hereby authorized to. ad
minister the oath of ‘Amnesty set out
in the President’s Proclamation of the
29th of M ay, 1865, to. such persons as
shall be entitled to take and .receive
the same; and in case of a vacancy in
office-of Culinary ol” lii’iy County or
Counties of this • Stater, then and in
that case the Clerk of the Superior
Court shall administer said oath ; Pro
vided., kaid Officers’ themselves shall
have prviously taken said oath. ’
It is further declared and directed,
that'wheh the oath is administered as
aforesaid to any person within any of
. the exceptions specified in said proclio
illation, it shall be appended to the pe
tition of the applicant—which peti*
tion shall also be verified before such
t Ordinary or Clerk, by .the oath of the
party; and when admiinsrcred to any
person not embraced within any of the
exceptions specified, the original oath
takei. and subscribed,, shall he sent by
the olicejr administeruig tbe same to
the 8 cretarv of State of the United
. States, and a certined. * oopy ‘ shall bo
given to the applicant. ‘
And it is further proclaimed and de
clared, that all the civil officers of this
State who have taken and subscribed
the oath prescribed in -the. Proclama
tion aforesaid, if not; embraced within
any of the. exceptions’ y or who may
have, received special Amnesty if ems
braced ; shall proceed thereafter in the i
discliarge of the duties of their sever
ed Offices-according to the laws in ex
istence prior to the Ist of January
1861, so far. as the same are not incon
sistent with our present condition
. To facilitate the people in obtaining
the Amnesty proffered,, the Ordinaries
or Clerks, (as the. case may be,) ate
■authorized to- procure printed blanks
from either one of the following press
es most covenient, as the same may be’
needed, for which payments will be
provided, on bills presented at this of*
fice, viz: Savannah Republican,
Augusta Chronicle & Sentinel, South
ern Watchman, Atlanta Intelligencer,
