A New Resident. Mr. E. M. Mellette, tlie real estate dealer, has sold the Ains worth place in Fearuside to A. J. Callahan, of Newton, Ala. Mr. Callahan is a commercial travel- He will enlarge tho honse and make it his future home. Foarn- sido has recently acquired several now and desirablo citizens. Mr. G. W. H. Stanley has pur chased the Lanier Business Col lege at Macon, Ga., aud will operate jt iu the future. It may he possible that he will later con solidate his Thomasville school with the Macon institution. For the present, however, he will oper ate both. Mr. Stanley’s Thomasville Bus iness College has won a name as the best, establishment of its kind in South Georgia and one of the very host in tile state. It has been tlie means of bringing a great mnny young men to the city aud of fur thering the interests of the place in a material way. Mr. Stanley is one of the best citizens that Thomasville possess es, and it. would be with the great est regret that the city would see him leave. It is believed aud hoped that he will find profit in operating both the Thomasville and Macon schools, and will not cense to be a citizen of Thomas ville. MARKET DEMORALIZED. Cotton Breaks 200 Points And Sully Falls New York, March. 18.—In lees than ten minutes after the open ing today another half cent had been taken olf the prices of cotton contracts. No morning of the reason has witnessed a more com plete demoralization of tho mar ket." Prices went up and down ten, twenty and thirty points in two or three minutes. At the dose the market was off almost 200 points. May opened at 15.15 and closed at 18.89. July opened at 1522 and closed at 18.57. The tremendous breaks in prices caus ed the failure of Daniel Sully, the great bull operator. His failure was announced to the members of the cotton exchange this after noon. GOLF WINNERS. Mr. Hamilton Vose df Milwaukee won the first prize, the handsome loviug oup for class A He defeated Mr.' T. S. Beckwith by 1 up after playing 88 boles, This matoh was intensely interest ing. The runnerup received box of Haskell golf balls. In Class B. Dr. T. E. Black- shear of this city won the cup over Mr. C. W. Allen by eight up and seven to play. Mr. Allen received a fine tyratin golf Club. In Class 0. the Cup' offered by Mr, Harrison was won by Mr. A. Harvey who defeated Mr. A. R. Spear 7 up and 0 to ploy. Mrs. Dering won the Ladies enp by 4 up and 8to play. The runner- up, Miss Davis received a box of Haskell golf balls. If so bring or send them to bejtried. Bush was formerly editor of the Camilla Enterprise and had many friends'here. Russian Victory. Cheefoo, March 19.—A private dispatch received here from Muk den states that a battle has taken place on the Ynlu river, in wHicb the Russians claim to have cap tured eighteen hundred prisoners. Mr. L. B. Andrews of near Su- sina was in town Saturday.
