mencement exercises in Pelham this
week.
The commencement exercises of the
Meigs Graded School will occur next
week. The sermon will be preached

This town has a number of odd fel
lows ; but there are none so odd as thote

Mr. W. J. Stubbs of Camilla was here
Sunday, ifc. Stubbs is a son of our
Judge Stubbs and has for several years
been agent at Glennmore, but la now
occupying a similar position at Camilla.
Mr. Rainy Chastain and wife of near
Ochloekonee were the guests of Mr. and
Mra. A. S. Braswell here Sunday. Mr.
Chastain is ono of the most prosperous
farmers of his community and has a
few days ago to visit her sister, Mrs. J.
H. Davis.

buggies and wagons. The painting

The Pelham people have enjoyed the
closing exercises of the school whioh oc
cupied two days this week. The teach
ers are Mark Bolding Principal, T. H.
Wilkinson, Miss Rosa Collins, Miss
Rossie Meadows, Mrs. J. R. Clements,
and Mrs. H. H. Turner. Under their
excdlent tutelage tne school has attain-
l a high degree of proflclenoy.
Tho pnpils all did nobly at the com
mencement exeroisos and were* credit
to their teachers, and to the town. Pd-
ham is indeed proud of her Mhool sys
tem.
Hon. James M. Griggs our effloient
congressman delivered a fine address
on Education which was enthusiastical
ly received. Some of the teachers will
not return next year which is a source
of genuine regret to our people, as they
have given fnll satisfaction.

verton and other north Georgia points
for his health, Hr. E. F. Dyve returned
to his position with Messrs. Copeland
and Oo. Tuesday. We are glad to say
he is mnoh improved In health.
Among the Tampa excursionists, the
first of the week, were Messrs. M. M.
Mush Jr. J. F. Wheeler and Sid How
ard, who go with the throng in guest of
pleasure.
Mr. J. W. Horne left this morning,
Wednesday, for St. Louis where lie goes
to visit the World’s Fair. From there
he will go on to Ohioago on business At.

The Methodist people here are mak
ing preparations for a “Doctrinal and
Missionary Institute’’ which convenes
bars Saturday and Sunday next. The
meeting will be In charge of Revs. K.
Read of Thomasvllle, and H. O. Jones
of Boston. Dinner will be Mrved
