The truth of the above verses has certainly been realized at the Vaslrfi Home, since its dedication to God. Every need lias been supplied. The girls have been clothed and fed out of His bountiful store-house. God’s Holy Spirit has toadied hearts here and there. Kind friends have an ticipated onr needs, knowing that the chilly touch of wiftter would soon come, some have sent in suitable material for fall dresses, others have sent in com forts, others have offered to go ont and assist in making the winter garments, another has furnished a room for the girls that are expected to come to us in a few days, others sent in provisions, a liberal hearted friend knowing the need of a new fence has contributed wire for fencing. Then the very generous donation of $60.00 from the Odd Fellows, and $J 00.00 from the MasonB have indeed encouraged ns to expect great things of God. "As your faith so be it unto you.” “And all things whatsoever you ask in prayer believing, ye shall receive.” Giving Him ail honor and glory for what He lias done in establishing this work, we go on, fnlly confident that He will meet all the requirements that this work demands. BEACON RAYS. To make a foal ' home” out of terial gathered here and there is no easy tiling, yet this has been brought to pass in Los Angeles, Oal. The Homer Tober- man Deaconess Home is growing In favor with everyone, writes Mrs. C. Price Brown, superintendent of the home. The people have almost ceased to ask •' What are you going to do with that big noose?” Having once accepted her invitation, "Come and seel,” they have learned enough of its plans and work to feel assured that this gift is in deed a blessing to the church and city. Nearly all the rooms have been fur nished. .At present there are eight in mates, and every one now in the home it a Christian. One of onr new deaconesses, Miss Maria BUiott, with another worker, a trained nurse, arrived at the “home” on the eighth of July. Mias Elliott took immediate charge ot the Chinese Night School. She lias helpers for each night from the different churches. Already her efforts are telling and the school improving. The children’s sewing class is doing flue work. Through this medium, many mothers will be reached and helped ed with power from on high, then they can go out to answer in His name. WHERE WERE HIS SISTERS? A lad of sixteen or seventeen noted for ills manliness and honor, was One of a company of persons who were discuss- lug the sad case of a young man who had gonejwrong. One who was present commiserated the unfortunate fellow, remarking that he had been left too much to his own way. His mother had died when he was small, his father was engrossed in business. The fad who had been listening spoke up quickly, his faoe flushed with fee!- iug: “Wiierewere his sisters?” he in quired. Happy boy, he had sisters of his own, and Ire knew that they would put forth their utmost endeavors to save lam from evil. He could not imagine sisters who would do otherwise. God gives most bdys sisters. And to those sisters he gives opportunity. Many a young man feels that he owes his sal vation to a good 6ister. And, it iB to be feared, many another might trace his ruin to a sister’s neglect. To be a good sister is to be a good missionary.—-New York Observer. A SAD DEATH.
