tation for a municipal plant began sev
eral, months ago and at that time the
oompany offend to submit figures to
the Board of Aldermen. This offer waa
renewed a few days ago bnt con
ferences have been held, between the
light oommlttee of the city council, the
representatives of the advocates of mu
nicipal ownership, and the light oom-
pauy. The negotiations at present are of
oouree tentative bnt their outcome will
probably be a recommends tion by coun
cil's oommlttee to that body, and In
tom a proposition submitted by that
body to the people's tallage.
The owners ot the plant make three
propositions of sale to the eity, 1. They
will aooept a oath payment of $40,000.
9. They will aooept 4 per cent bonds of
the city of ThomssvtUe to the amount
of $10,000. These bonds must be of
■noh denomination, and of suoh time
within the legal limit of 80 years, as the
otty may Irish. 8. Tboy will aocept
the oity's notes for $10,000 bearing
8 per oent interest.
The Inonrringof a debt to be paid In
its manner Is the preposition to bo sub
mitted to an eteotlon, called for Jone
8th. This Is a new method of contract
ing municipal debt. The light oompany
states that the prioe of 840,000 Is $8,800
less than the the oost of their ma
ohlnery.
