To the Mayor and Aldermen of the Ci*y
of Thomasville:
We, the undersigned voters of the
City of Thomasville respectfully show
as follows:
The question to be submitted to the
qualified voters of ^Thomasville at the
eleotion which you have ordered for
June 8th. is whether or not you as their
agents will be authorized to iucur
debt of $35,000 00 (which amount dow
not include land, buildings, foundations
for engines, dynsm^s. or setting bailors
wells and tools at an es imated cost of
$8,000.00] which debt is to bear six per
cent per auuum interest for the purpose
of establishing a municipal light plant
to bo owned and operated by the city
aud to be run for public and private
use, private consumers to pay for the
lights used. If this proposition oarries,
interest charged will be $2100.00 per an
num, and to meet this os you propose
to pay thia debt at the rate of $3000.00
per year, there will remain only $1900.-
00 of this $4000.00 to be applied to the
payment of the principle. At this rate
it will require 18 years to pay off and
discharge this interest and principal.
Tho owners of the present Electrio
Light Co. have [offered to sell their
plant to the oity for the sum of 40,000.00
and have offered to take in payment
bonds of the City of Thomasville bear
ing interest at the rate of four per cent
per annum. This debt would carry
with it an annual interest charge of
$1000.00 [as against interest charged
under the plan proposed by your body
of $2100.00. If the two debts should
run an equal length of time, that is, to
taj 31 years, the actual groas cost to the
people of Thomasville iu the way of ex
cess interest of the one plan over the
other for the period of 18 years woald
be $387 T.98.
The|Thomasville Electrio Co. controls
by contract, lines extending;out of the
oity limits, and have contracts with
customers that are a valuable asset of
the Company, and if the Thomasville
Electrio Co. holds a municipal fran
chise which may be a bar to the city so
far as its power to engage in the busi
ness of conducting an electric light plant
for profit, and this too may be a valuable
aet of the company,
For and in consideration of the fact
that tbe^city by purchasing the present
plant can do so at an interest charge of
four per centos against six per oent
under the plan proposed, and for and
iu consideration of the fact that the
city IbyJ purchasing the present plant
wouldfacquire all of its rights, privi
leges, contracts and business, would be
at once in control in its own name and
for its own use and the|nse of its citi
sens of|a monoply.
We, the undersigned, respectfully ^re
commend and advise the purchase of
the light plant from its owners, if after
the examination of said property and
the business of said Company by compe
tent and disinterested persons said pro
perty and business in the opinion of said
oompetent persons is worth the snm of
$40,000.00.

Paine’s Celery Compound
Makes Nerve Force
Nerve Force rules the world.
Health—the satisfaction of living,—is the
right of every man and woman born into the
world.
Health is a question of keeping all the organs
of the body working together in fine, smooth,
harmony.
The force that rules them all—that makes them
work as nature meant and makes them keep in
harmony—is Nerve Force.
Without Nerve Force there can be no health at
all—no success—no joy in living.
The center of life is in the nerves.
The real root of health or sickness is found in
the condition of the nerves.
Neglect the nerves and they will make you
feel this neglect in many ways, they control all
of the organs of the body and must be kept
healthy and strong to do their work properly,—
tired nerves cannot keep the organs of the body
working in that harmony which is essential to
real health.
This is why Paine’s Celery Compound is able
to bring health in so many different forms.
Paine’s Celery Compound feeds and nourishes
the nerves. It makes new Nerve Force. It
makes pure, rich blood, a clean active liver, a
stomach that acts quietly and strongly upon all
the food that is given to it, bowels that throw
away promptly and surely all the ashes from
life’s engine room.
It makes the heart beat true and evenly, it
makes the brain clear and vigorous.
The Nerve Force does this all, and Paine’s Cel
ery Compound makes the Nerve Force. '
Best of all it makes that buoyant life-spirit, the
thrill of health, that is the secret of happiness and
the keynote of individual success. ,
This is the work of Paine’s Celery Compound.
It is the most celebrated, nerve vitaltzer and tonic
in the world.
We give the testimony of many individual
cases, simply that you may know their experience
in their own words.
' "I am a man of mer* than (0 years, and
' for th« past 20 y.ara I was a great sufferer
with acute stomach trouble and rheumatlem.
I tried a number of specialists, but their ef
forts were unavailing and I felt ae though
i life wae not worth living, and I had given up
-» all hope of being a well man again. My

I am a sound and . wall man, able to work

, for my good health, as aha get me to take
jl Paine's Celery Compound, In my opinion the
greatest medleine ever given to the world
for nervousness, stomach trouble, rheuma
tlem and kindred ailments. Yours very
• truly,"—Martin Baldwin, 810 North 10th St,
St Joseph, Mo. Feb. 25, 1004.
Doctors know and value this prescription anil
inake constant use of it in their practice.
Its effect is almost instantaneous—the nourish
ment and vigor given to the nerve system by
Paine’s Cetery Compound is felt at once.
The patient feeU this at once and gains confi
dence by it.
The Nerve Force begins at once to make each
organ of the body do the work that nature expects,
of it.
Two days’ treatment with Paine’s Celery Com
pound will prove its marvelous power.
Remember this,—Paine’s Celery Compound is
the prescription of one of the most famous physi
cians this country has ever known, Prof. E. E.
Phelps, of Dartmouth University, and all repu
table druggists sell and recommend it.
