The library of R. H. Haeris was rob

W. M. Smith had put up a new sign
over his "boggy repository."
The first attempt to enforce the social
equality feature of tlie infamous civil
rights biil^in Georgia was made iu
Thomasville that week. A widow lady
of this city hired a new cook and was
dismayed at dinner time to find an
extra plate at the table. “No sooner
had the family seated themselves thsn
the uegress walked in and with
most unblushing effrontery and sang
froid actually took her seat at tbe
table and commenced helping herself
with a zeal that showed that sho was
prepared to do justioe to her own cook

The Thomaaville Guards were prepar

Rev. J. O. A. Cook preached the com-

The new catalogues for Young's Fe
male College were received in Thomas

tribution. They are from the press of
the Frauklin Printing Co. Atlanta, and
are a work of art. The cover is in
rough white with gold lettering. Tlieie
are many handsome electrotypes in the
book, and much valuable {information
for prospective students.
&There is a calendar for 1906-1906, lists
of tbe Boards of Trustee* and Managers,
officers and faculty, etc. Oue very in
teresting feature is the list of alumnae
of the college*.
Since 1871 there have been graduating
classes varying in size from live to fif
teen. The names of the ladies gradua

the life of Thomasville and other 8onth

years of 1871 and 1893 one
hundred and fifty six received their
degrees.
There is a history of the institution, a
course of study and much general infor

mention of the scholarships that will be

POLITICIANS THINKING
OF LEGISLATIVE DAYS
The next session of the Georgia legis
lature convenes on June 20th, and
already Thomas county politicians are
figuring on doings in the capital. This
county re-elected all of its old represen
tatives tho trio being Fondren Mitchell
of this city, John R. Singletary of Cairo
and J. B. Rountree of Boston. Senator
H. W. Hopkins is succeeded by Senator
S. S. Bennett of Iultman. C. P. Han
sell assistant sectary of the senate will
again be appointed to that position.
The sectary, Chas. Northern of Atlanta,
will have no opposition. John M.
Slaton will be elected speaker of the
house without a contest. Mr. Mitchell
was for a time mentioned for the place,
which he tried for on two occasions,
and nearly captured onoe.He will not be
a candidate however. The biggest
fight is for president of the senate, be
tween West of Lowudes and Candler of
DeKalb.
Many local politicians will go to At-
lauta during the Hossinn. One of the
interesting features to be settled will
be the new county fight. Grady
countv’H fate will probably be settled at
that time.
