at the splendidly appointed lodge hall
in the Elks’ Club, at five o’clock |in the

poor. To begin with, «n ordinary gal
vanized wire has been used, and on thia
one wire there-were about eight phones
between Moultrie and Thomasville.
Those phones arc mostly at taw mills
and are a source of worry end rouiln-

trying to talk at long distance. All the
annoyance will be avoided in fntnre.

were made. The syrup has already been
received.

Odessa, timed 8:51 p. m. today, says
that mobs estimated at twelve thou
sand persons attacked the troops in the
streets yesterday, and that the fighting
continued into th* night. Several ban
died people were killed or wounded.
The petroleum reservoirs were set on
Ore and exploded. All street traffic le
stopped. The volnnteer cruiser Saratoff
baa honied.
Washington, June 80.—Th* state de
partment received a cablegram from
Consul Heonan, at Odessa, today saying
that six officers of the Potekioe were
killed, eight liberated and the remain
der held as prisoners. Tbs fleet has not
arrived at Odessa. The harbor has
been largely destroyed by fire, fifty riot
ers killed and many Russian steams, s
burned.

ed of a desire to ride, stole a bicycle
from the shop of Mr. Levy Harrell and
was wending his way to Thomasville
