The Secretary of Agriculture an nounced to the cabinet meeting that he had decided on a schvns wlnco would relieve the Department 6f Ag riculture of considerable expense j» connection with meat inspection and enable a larger force of inspectors to be put at vyork. It was nothing less than a plan to make the packers pay for the lables used'in* the inspection and thus relieve ,the department of that part of the expense. Heretofore the packers have stood none of the expense of the inspection. The gov ernment has footed the entire bill: The cost of the labels alone amounts to from $65,000 and it this were saved to the department and a small fee charged for the services of the Inspectors, It would be a great sav ing and would enable a much larger force of Inspectors to be put to work In this way not one would the in spectors for the smaller houses en gaged in interstate traffic and who have heretofore complained that they were discriminated against in favor of the big houses of the trust You cannot effort! to take any chances U having Bright’s Dlseure, as you can now obtain a complete cure without cost. ' . The Thomasville delegates to the Sind annual• session of the Mercer Baptist association have returned from Adel and bring back reports of a most successful meeting. The association will hold its next meet ing in Qnitman on the Tuesday after' the second Sunday in October, 1906. The most Important business trans acted by the association waa the de cision to divide into two parts. The plan for dividing the body pro poses Little Hirer as the dividing line. This will put Lowndes and Berrien counties in the new asso ciation and Colquitt, Brooks and Thomas in the old asoclatlon. The Thomas county delegates all played a prominent part in the pro ceedings of the convention; Rev. J. M. Rushln was moderator and waa elected tor another term. Rev. A. C. Oct. 12.—J. Gordon , Simpson of Dixie, Ga., has been shocked by the sight of a freight train of the Atlantic Coast Line pass ing through Dixie on Sunday and he has written to the railroad com mission calling attention to the mat ter and requesting that the Atlantic Coast Line be yanked up before the board. The commission holds that it has nothing to do with the case and has so written Mr. Simpson, sug gesting to him that he lodge his com plaint with the courts. Here is Mr. Simpson’s letter: Dixie, Ga.. Oct. 8, 1905 Railroad Commission, Atlanta, Ga.: Gentlemen—It Is not yet 9 o'clock on Sunday morning, Oct. 8, 1905, and two freight trains have already pass ed here (Dixie) since 7 o’clock this morning, passing over the Atlantic Coast Line railroad Into Thomasville from the direction of Waycross and it Is not impossible that another will pass befere this day is over. Few Sundays have passed without one or more freight trains running by here on the Atlantic Coast Line. Can thlB be prevented? If so, you have It before you to act in this matter. Respectfully, J. Gordon Simpson. FLETCHERVIILE WILL OPPOSE The proposition to incur a debt of 130,006 for a municipal electric light plant will not sail aver sum mer seas to an unfought victory. Tha realdents of that section of the town known as Fletcherviile will oppose the proposition at the polls. Sever al of the prominent cltlzons of that section were outspoken yesterday In their Intention of opposition. One of them said to a Tfmes-Enterprlse man: "We would be foolish to sup port the measure for its success would mean that we would have -go without sewerage In our part of the town for several years longer. The two propositions were coupled before and I do not see why they should be separated now. We hold the municipal ownership people re sponsible for the defeat of the sewer age plan at the first election and wo have not forgotten tt. If they will advocate a bond Issue at four per cent, and sufficient In amount to both buy the plant and give us sewerage we will turn In and carry both pro positions. If they do not we will defeat the municipal ownership plan, sure.” When the light leaders were seen they said that they were aware of the objection of the Fletcherviile folks, but did not consider them well founded. They- declare that they are not dependent upon Fietcb- ervllle votes to carry the day. They say that they would like to havo a united support but that there are only 22 votes in Fletchorville and that these are not necessary to the success of the plan. • Mr. J. F.
