The eructatloni of the various can
didates who are opposing Hoke
Smith in hls gubernatorial campaign
are merely spasmodic attempts to
draw away votes from him, which
will prove futile In the end. He is
no greater sinner, politically, than
hls traducers. '
I notice that some one In the
Ttmes-Enterprlse ' has suggested M.
L. Cook, of our town as a suitable
person to represent us In the gea
rs! assembly. Should he consent
to make the race, this district will
give him a large vote and an enthu
siastic support. He would make this
county a model representative and
we don't know of a better man for
the place.

D. B. Anderson & Co. Will Have
Imitation ^tone Building at
1 Ochlockonee.
(By J. B. Stubbs,)
A Joke On Somebody.
There’s a joke on somebody In
connection with the painting of the
school building. Mr. T. C. Beverley
was to furnish the paint, and last
Saturday he sent out a barrel of
stuff, ladders a^d scaffolding. Mon
day morning when Mr. Ernest Clark,
who Is to do the painting, opened
the barrel of supposed paint he
found It not to be paint at all, but
“water purifier.” Now the question
\s. Is the joke on Hr. Beverley, or
has he played one on the rest of ns?
A Two Story Building.
D. B. Anderson A Co. have
chnnged their plans somewhat In re
gard to their, proposed new store
building. They have let the contract
to Mr. Joe McGrow, of Moultrie, who
ls*to erect a handsome two-story
building of Imitation stone.
There Is some talk to the effect
that the Masons and the Woodmen
will rent the upper floor of the new
bnlldlng- for their meeting hall, hot
It appears that there will be some
opposition to leaving the present
quarters la the old Boston house.

moved, placing It on the corner of
the street leading to the Baptist
church.
The members of the Methodist
church have decided to remedy the
physical condition of their church
building, and 'have set about col
lecting the necessary funds. About
$400 worth of repairs will be made.
Dr. Nnnnally Popular.
Dr. Nunnally will get a good many
votes In this district. Already sev
eral locally prominent men have ex
pressed themselves as favoring hls
nomination. Hls opening speech Is
worth moi4 than everything all the
other candidates hare said, and, as
far as a governor can bring about
reform, he would probably prove to
be more of a reformer than any oth
er man In the race. The Prohibi
tionists should put up a strong fight
for the preacher-politician. |

The Indications now are that the
cold snap has been severe enough to
ruin the fruit crops, besides greatly
damaging the young vegetable gar
