there was so much of the land in the
county lying open that the ad

were probably in the minority, but
there has been a very rapid growth

ly, and there hardly seems a ques

county as a whole would prefer the
operations of the stock law to the
present conditions.
If the law is passed, it will require
everybody In the county to keep up
their stock, making fences unneces
sary except between plantations and
around private pastures. The ef
fect of the law is to require every
body to fence ln their qwn cattle,
rather then fence out the other fel
low's cattle.
There is only one time in the
year in which an election to decide
the matter can be held, and that is
the first Tuesday in July. If a pe

ordinary asking him to order an elec

the land uijon which the club Is

tract of land lying across the boule

Is about seventy acres ln this tract,
and it will make a very desirable
residence site. The land will be
surveyed and put In shape for sale
and will doubtless bring a high
prfee when put upon the market.
The value of the company’s property
Is Increasing, and the shares of stock
meet with a ready sale at par. The
shares are valued at $600 each.
Dr. T. M. McIntosh yesterday sold
one Share to Mr. Charles M. Chap

one-hn|f a share to Mr. J. H. Mer

through Judge H. W. Hopkins for
the entire stock tBSue. It Is said
that he represents a northern visi
tor who desires the property for a
winter home. The stockholders
were not desirous of selling, however.
At the meeting of the club gov
ernors the matter of a consolidation
with the Thomasvllle Golf club was
informally discussed but no action
was taken. There will therefore be
no consolidation of the clubs. This
was a projeot that had been talked
about.to some extent by the mem
bers of both clubs. There are about
forty members of each club.
The members of the Country Club
are men of wealth, and although the
club has not been a paying Institu
