. The clerk of the board was, on
motion, Instructed to procure a book
upon which to make a diagram of all
public roads In the county and the
road overseers are required to make
and furnish to the clerk a diagram
of all the public roads In their re
spective districts.
Mr. J. F. Groover proposed to
conpffssloners to pay 925.00 toward*
thSWtJense In straightening the pub-
lie road that runs through his land.
On motion the proposition was ac
cepted.

On motion the county printing
was awarded to Tlmes-Enterprlse
Publishing Company for the present
year for 9100.00 a year.
Road Defaulters.
On motion the overseer of the
Thomasvllle district was Instructed
to summon all road defaulters south
of the old Montlcello road and south
of Jones Bridge road to meet Fore
man W. R. Mitchell at his camp on
Peabody place on Spring Hill road
io work ten days, M. C. Scott was
beginning May 14th, Instructed to
summon all road defaulters in Bos
ton district south of A. C. L. rail
road and east of Boston and Monti
cello road to report on the morning
of May 14th to F. M. Youngblood
at his camp on the Boston and
Groovervllle road for ten days work.
Board went Into executive session
and proceeded to the election of an
overseer In Pavo district in the place
of T. W| Davis, deceased. Mr. M.
D. Redfearn was unanimously elect
ed.
' Bid of R. Thomas for paint fog
Jones’ 'Bridge at 68c gallon was ac
cepted. Chairman of this board was
Instructed to let the contract for
painting the Jones’ Bridge.
Resolutions.
The following resolutions submit
ted by W. A. Pringle and adopted:
Be It hereby resolved that the su-
perlntendent of public roads Is posi
tively instructed to lay out the right-
of-way for-all roads thirty feet wide
and to construct the' road beds of
such a width aS^the. conditions rela
tive to'travel and the surroundings
demand. '

roadway fence obstructing the road
be moved" back the proper distance

and the cost of removing said fence

We call especial attention of the

P. S. Heeth, tax collector. The
showing Is a marvelous one. Out of
an aggregate of nearly thirty-four
thousand dollars of taxes due, Mr.
Heeth got It all except 980. As the
representative of the county we
thank Mr. Heeth 'for this splendid'
Showing, and commend him as ai
vigilant and energetic official.

good shape, every way. There is no-
sickness. None received, discharged
or died at the latter.

Gentlemen: I beg to report that
work la progressing satisfactorily on
the roads. I was forced to move the
Squad from Meigs district on account
of being unable to hold labor. Will
resume work In that district as
soon as I can procure an organised-
squad. One squad at work on
Spring Hill road about five miles
out, another at work on Boston and
Madison road south of Boston, an
other on Jones’ Bridge road near
Ballard’s mill, another squad pull
ing stumps on Spring Hill road.

tion. I recommend that your board
give me Instructions In regard to
working out lines.

MEIGS AFFAIRS..
Tucker Union Meeting Great Success.
Other News From J. S. Searcy.
Good Union Meeting.
The union meeting of the Tucker
association held noar this place three
days of last week was a decided suc
cess In every way. Thbre seems to
be an enchantment about Midway
church and the great spring near
which it la situated, for even on com- -
mon meeting days the crowd Is very
large. On Saturday of this last oc
casion hundreds of people were In
attendance, and It is said they were
fed, and plenty to spare. It Is said
that the discussions were very Inter
esting and profitable. The next
meeting will be held at Hartsfleld.
Quarterly Gathering.
The next quarterly meeting for
the Pelham circuit will be held here
at the M. E. church on the second
Sunday in this month and Monday
following.
Personul Points,
Mr. O. L. Walker, of Camilla, the
new telegraph operator here, has
moved his family to this place, oc
cupying a portion of the Fultord res
idence, on Quality Square.
Messrs. Rainey Blastngame and
Joe Lord, of Pelham, and Mr. J. W.
Blaslngame, of Cullodsn, Ga.. were
here Sunday, the guests of the fam
ily of Mr. A. R. Brundage. Mr. J.
W. Blaslngame was my friend and
patron years ago at Culloden, and
1 was glad to renew old acquaintance.
Mr. R. J. Laster, of Pavo district,
a former citizen of Meigs, was here
Wednesday.
Miss Clifford Davis attended the
union, meeting at Little Ochlocko
nee church Friday, Saturday and
Sunday
Mr. J. W. Cochran, of Thomasvllle,
and Will Dixon, of Camilla, were vis
itors here Sunday. '
Mr. T. W. Carter made a business
trip to Thomasvllle Monday.
Miss Emma Boswell and her
brother, Jesse, are at home for a
short time from Norman Park school.
Prof. B. B. Kendrick, of Norman
Park, was over Sunday. We don’t
know the object of the professor’s
visit, but theil he may have been
looking after the Interests of hts
school.
Dan Seigler, of Moultrie, was here
a few days ago. Dan Is a good fel
low-, and we trust his visits will not
prove "ruthless.”
Misses Coral Glausler and Louise
Butler, of Pelham, were visitors here
Sunday.
Mr. H. B. McCormac, traveling
men, visited his daughter, Mrs.
Luther Singletary, here Sunday.
Mr. Robert’McMillan, of Ochlock
onee, has accented a place, with Mr.
O. I., Duron and has moved I1I3 fam
ily here.
Mr. J.-B. Roberts, of Doerun, was
here Sunday.

Ed McRee Lost Oat in Legislative
Race. ,
Valdosta, Ga.. April 26.—The
county Democratic primary was held
here yesterday and the contest was a
warm one.
Sheriff Passmore Is re-elected over
phlef of Police Dampler, and E. H.
Davis by probably 150 plurality.
C. R. Ashley and J. R. Walker are
elected to the legislature, defeating
E. J. McRee, one of the old legisla
tors. y
C. 8. Bacon Is re-elected tax re
ceiver over Jesse Scruggs by a large
majority, and U. C. Geiger Is elected
tax collector over D. A. Lawson, and
black Ulmer by a large majority.
Congressman, W. G. Brantley;
Clerk of the Superior Court, R. T.
Myddleton; County Treasurer, Wil
lis Lang; Surveyor, S. C. Hutchin
son, and Coroner, L. C. Solomon, are
renominated without opposition and
by full votes.
In Memoriatr.
Upon the death of Sallie McRae,
the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
S. J, McRae, her aunt writes the fol
lowing:
As gentle mav stepped In It re
leased little Sallio from all earthly
suffering sorrow and care.
It was. Monday noon when Death
Angel softly called come Home.
She waa 111 only a few days with
nneumonla. The six weeks she
dwelled with loved ones here, and
now* separated from father, mother,
brother and two little sisters. She
still lives and represents sour house
hold In Heaven.

“Mr. Maesey was asked about the
prospects for watermelons In his ter
ritory, which Is one of the best melon
sections of Georgia, and he replied
that comparatively few melons had
been planted this year. He did not
know of a single field of cantaloupes
and was of the opinion that the wa- j
termelon crop would be considera
bly off from last year and other years
In the Immediate past.
Barwlck has a number of very
successful melon growers, and for
several year* they have been among
the first to'ship a car of melons from

buying, selling and exchanging real
and personal property of all kinds,
including stock of other corporations,
(subject to the Constitutional limi
tation in regard thereto), Its own
stock when It may be desirable to
do so for the benefit and Interests
of .the corporation; and also of buy
ing, selling and exchanging lumbor,
shingles, laths and all other sawmill
products; also commercial paper of
all kinds connected with said busi
ness, and * the right to pledge any
property ns security for debt In any
way; also to endorse or become sure
ty on the obligations of others as
may at any time become desirable In
connection with said buslnes*.

Petitioners desire that they have
the right to construct, maintain and
operate tramroada, and to have the
right to procure rights-of-way there
for by purchase, gift or condemna
tion, as provided by the laws, or In
any way not prohibited by law.

thing necessary, suitable, convenient
or proper for the accomplishment of
any purposes or the attainment of
any one or more objects herein
enumerated or Incidental to the pow
ers herein named, or which may at
any time appear conducive or ex

erty or otherwise: with all the pow
ers now or hereafter conferred by the
