Knocking Out tbe Dry
Ordinance.
There has been much discussion
of the decision of the supreme court,
which render null, void and of no
avail, the famous ordinance of the
city of Thomasville, providing a pen
alty for the keeping on hand of
liquor for sale. The - head notes to
this decision have been received in
Thomasville.
The opinion was rendered by Jus
tice Beck. It reads as follows:

While a municipality may for
bid the keeping within its corporate
-limits of intoxicating liquors, intend
ed for illegal sale. It has no pow- -
to adopt an ordinance, which not o:
ly prohibits the keeping for sale- c
liquor, which cannot be lawfr M
sold, but also undertakes to for'
the keeping of domestic wines for t .
purpose of sale, notwithstanding t
general election law which author
Izes such wines to he sold under cer
tain prescribed terms and regula

The effect of the decision is to
nullify the ordinance, but it does not
open tbe doors for tbe sale of wines,
unless the county tax of $2,000 and
he city tax of $1,000 be paid. These
are the "prescribed terms and reg,
ulatlons" referred to In the decis
ion.

It Is testimony like the following
that has placed^'the old Quaker Rem
edy" so far above competition.
When people right here at home
raise their voice in praise there is
-o room left for doubt. Rend the
public statement of a Thomasville
citizen:
»T. A. Teate, of Thomasville. Ga.,
first-Wrote us on April 23, 1904, soon
after using Doan’s. He said: "1
had kidney disease so bad I could
hardly walk. I could not carry ten
pounds, my back was so weak and
painful. I was persuaded to try
Doan's Kidney Pills and the flrBt box
did me so much good that I got a
second and Bince using them I have
recovered my health and, strength
and my back is so tduch ‘stronger
that I can carry a Ueavy qewing ma
chine on my shoulders two hundred
yards and never feel it.”
On May 21, 1905, a year and two
months later, Mr. Teate wrote again,
as follows:
Gentlemen—Inclosed you wilt find
my photograph. I would not take
one thousand dollars for the great
good i have realized from less than-
two boxes of Doan’s Kidney Plils.
You know it Is a wonderful thing
for a man to Increase in flesh in the
short space of six months from 145
to 186 pounds nnd to feel strong
and In perfect good health. That
Is just my case; It was Doan’s Kid
ney Pills that did it, because they,
cured the kidney trouble which kept
my health poor and my weight down.
Everybody that sees me is astonish
ed at the wonderful change atjd lots
of my friends hardly knew me. Some
of them exclaimed: “What in the
world have you been using to rnr.ke
yon look so healthy. I have Invar
iably told sufferers the wonderful
effect of Doan's Kidney PlllB. I
thought I bad liver trouble which
kept me so poorly, but I believe that
the majority of people in this coun
try have weakened kidneys In one
form or another. You can see from
photograph I enclose that I am
strong and well again.
(Signed) T. A. Teate”

CURED HAY FEVER AND SUM-

\. J. Nusoaum, Batesvlllo, In

for three long months with a sum
mer cold so distressing that it inter
fered with my business. I had munj
of the symptoms of hay fever, ond n
doctor's prescription did not reach
my case, and I took several medi
cines which seemed to only aggrnvote
ray case. Fortunately I insisted up
on having Foley’s Honey and Tar
