Lumbermen are Investigating l-'ake
Story About Short Leaf Pine.
The Lumberman's Associations In
the South are investigating fake re
ports sent out to the effect that fire
boards of northern cities have ruled
out short leaf pine and that this rul
ing would cause 1,000 mills in the
South to shut down.' The Times-En-
terprlse Investigated this report last
week and showed it up In Its true
light. That was the first exposure
of tbe question, and Blnce then the
affairs he* been takea up by others.
It is now claimed that no such
ruling was „ made, and staled that
even If It bad been It would effect
very few mills In Georgia. Reports
of an indignation meeting of lumber
men were sent our under a Macon
date line. The Board of Trade of
Macon has been asked to Investigate
the olgln of this report, and It now
stated that no such meeting was ever
held. v
