STAND FOR fOCENTB. r
la the Advice of President Johnson
to Cotton Growers.
Atlanta, Ga., October 1.—(Spec
ial.)—President W. L. Johnson of
i
j the Georgia division, Southrn Cotton
Association, has Just Issued a state
ment in which he urges the cotton .
planters of Georgia and the south to
stand by the recent minimum price
at 10 cents. j
President Johnson says: j
“The Southern Cotton Association
has spoken and the old original
standard price of 10 cents has been
' Indorsed and reaffirmed. It was with
I this price that the bankers, mer-
! chants and farmers won\ their nota
ble victory for the south in 1905,
and they can do It again. j
“This price should und will meet
the approval and receive the support
of every business interest. No cot
ton should be sold for less and this
should be added to only as the ex
igencies of the occasion demand.
“The farmers should realize that
he canot get a fixed price by selling
below it. They must stand solid to
the agreement like a stone wall. You
will recall that I have always con
tended that whatever the price flxei,
whether 10 of 12 cents, we could
win only by each individual standing
loyal and doing his full duty. There
the some men so loyal to the asso
ciation that they are still holding
their cotton. That Is the metal
which wins; but those who sold for
the best price cannot expect them to
do this year In and year out while
others continue to sell. Let mer
chants, bankers and farmers go to
speaking out as they did In 1905.
The fight .which has forced our cot
ton down below 10 tents and seeks
to hold it there must be met In a
common cause; it is vital to every
southern interest.
“It will be recalled again that I
insisted that the time to advance the
price was when the mill supplies
were short, and that Is now. There
are few mills not willing to pay 10
cents. There Is no doubt that our
merchants and bankers will aid those
who do not wish to sell below 10
cents.
“The association has had but one
defeat, It has had many victories.
Let’s add another now and get 10
cents. To do this we must all move
as one man. I would be glad to
have a word with every Georgian
who Is with us in the fight. Re

MARRIED OFTEN.
Huvamiuli Woman Was Very Muchly
Married.
Savannah, Oct. 2.—Some peculiar
cases went through the divorce mill
of the Superior Court on Monday
which was the regular divorce court
day. One of these was that of Mar.-
lon F. Peterson vs. I.lda F. Peterson.
It was shown that Mrs. Peterson was
very much of a marrying disposition
She married Mr. Peterson under the
name I.lda F. Carrier. They lived
together for about a year when .Mrs.
Peterson went to North Carolina on
Isit. Her husband - found that
she had mairler while there. He
enlered suit for u divorce and dis
covered that his wife had had a hus
band eren before she had married
him. lie had no trouble getting ills
marriage annulled us the woman had
no legal right to marry him with a
husband living, and no more right to
sttucli herself to another husband
than she had to take on Peterson.
The one Jury ground oqt several
divorce cases at one sitting, but once
there was a balk when Judge Cann
told the Jury that duress had not
been shown, as one of the plaintiffs
claimed. This case went over for
further Investigation. . ,
