Washington, Not, 5.—If tie elec
tion expenses of candidates tor the
United states Senate all over' were
as low as those of Senators Morgan
and Pettns of Alabama,-It Is prob
able that the upper house of Con
gress would soon' lose the title " of
t&fe “rich men's club.” Senator Mor
gan this week walked into the office
of the Senate notary , and asked him
to prepare an affidavit regarding his
expenses In the primaries that re
sulted in his renomlnatlon to the
Senate. The official asked him the
amount of money efpended.
“Sixty dollars,” said Senator Mor
gan pronjptly.
“Sixty dollars,” repeated the no
tary, Incredulously. “Is that your
full expenditure!"
“Every cent. It went 'as a con
tribution to- the state committee.
Pottus got stuck for $70."
The senator chuckled delightedly
over having bested his colleague by
$10, and added that they both were
coming back. \ , ,
