Schlffln, chairman of the committee
for the Improvement of the Indus
trial condition of negroes In New
York, said:

whites and negroes quarrel, the po
lice generally hit the negroes. The
most disgraceful campaign <

In Georgia. At least twenty of those
killed by mobs were victims of Hoke

SUICIDE AT CAIRO.
Ira L. Hunt Puts a Ballet Through
His Brain.
Cairo, Nov. 15.—Mr. Ira L. Hurst
formerly a citizen of Cairo, commit
ted suicide hece this tnornlng at the
home of his father, Mr. G. T. Hurst.
Hla purpose was executed by the use
of a pistol from which a bullet was
shot through hla head near the tem
ple.
Mr. Hurst’s wife died about a
year ago, and he Is survived by only
one child, a little girl about
years old. For the last several
months he has been agent for the A.
C. L. at Gordon, Ala., and was at
home a few days on a visit to rel
atives and friends. The cause of
his suicide was despondency.
