■ all Kind* of Wood.
Smooth Methods of Carrying It on,
in Dry Towns.
Washington. Nov. 17.—At a meet
ing here today of (he representatives
of lumber manufacturers and wood
seers association, resolutions were
unanimously adopted advocating the
establishment by the government of
a completely equipped lumber test
ing laboratory. The interests rep

Tho function of the
that good common sense
of which all of us have a
share, how can you continue
nlng some new way to get the'lr
goods Into dry towns. A unique
scheme was uncovered yesterday
afternoon In Thomasville.
A wholesale liquor house in Louis
ville. Ky., sent out circular letters
to a number of Thomasville peopl^
advertising the merits'of the respec
tive brands put up by that house.
The distiller alio encloses five order
hinnies and the following kind ad
vice.
“Olve the enclosed 5 blanks to 5
of your friends and for every order
that I receive on the enclosed yel
low blanks from a new customer
calling for one gallon or more of 10
year old or older at the regular
price I will give you free 1 quart
of 10 year whiskey.
"Remember order must be from
a new customer on the yellow blank
and must call for 1 or more gal
lons of 10 year old or older.
“When 4 order* are received from
4 different parties I wilt send you
4 quarts of 10 year old by express
prepaid free of charge or if you de
sire I can send the free bottle with
your friend’s shipment.
Tho law against soliciting orders
for liquor 1 ndry towns is quite
stringent, and if the ofllcers learn
of any Thomasville people taking up <
the kind offer of the Louisville house i
they may have trouble. . I

for desired purposes.
A permanent organization was af
