ed School Is nearly 1,000 votes
ahead of Boston, lumping since the
last count np to 5,600. Boston

the race. Pavo holds fourth place.
The votes from the country will
begin to come In thick and fait dar

The Issue was dearly drawn by
two aldermsnic tickets. Five of the
aldermen were the same on both
tickets. On the cow ticket C. T.
Gandy, W. q. Mitchell, and W. B.
Cochran were opposed by M. M.
Cooper, Jamas Gribben and Homer
Williams Mr. Mitchell received
1ST votes, Mr. Cooper 173, Mr- Gan
dy 171, Mr. Cochran 171, Mr. Grib-
ben 168, and Mr. Williams 160. Ur.
Cooper was therefore the only man
elected on the cow ticket, and by a
very narrow ma-.-gln the decision ot
the voters Is for the -cow. It' 1s
doubtful if there Is such, an equal
division of public sentiment on any

The voting was rapid all day, and
In spite of the cold and the rain

106, Dr. Mellette, and Messrs Smith,

road, and $181,515 from liquor
