TRADE GOOD
Merchants Have Big
Stocks and many buy
ers this year.
The universal verdict of Thomae-
vllle merchants la that the Christ
mas trade of 1906 te the beet in
years, and the total volume will
probably be greater than the city has
ever known.
The merchants are advertising
their wares In the Dally Tlmes-En-
terprise which has been Increased In
sise to eight pages. Their appeal to
the public has brought the shoppers
out earlier than usual, and the
streets and shops are thronged with
buyers every day and night.
It is conceded that the merchants
have bigger and better stocks than
any heretofore displayed In Thomas
vllle. There Is the usual line of
toys and novelties, but the stock of
fine goods Is greater than Is custo
mary, and the prosperous condition
of the people enables them to buy
these luxuries. ,
The stock of cut-glass, fine crock
ery, jewelry and diamonds was nev
er 80 large as at present. These
stocks embrace many novelties in
jewelry, and also, thousands of dol
lars worth of diamonds.
The toys that are on the market
this year are said to be of a higher
class and more expensive than have
been seen before In this city, show
ing that the prosperous ’ conditions
havo put It Into the heads of the
people to buy expensive goods.
The merchants here report that
many out-of-town shoppers have
teen here during the past few days
and nil have expressed themselves
as groatly pleased with, the goods
that are In the stores here. Huge
bundles of goods are"sent to overy
out-going train fgr parties who have
been here to trade, while all of the
merchants have received many or
ders for goods to bo sent by freight
or express to the adjoining towns.
The out-of-town buyers will find
Thomasvllle better prepared than
ever before to supply their ' wants.
By coming here to trade, they get the
benefit of the large lines- to select
from and can get novelties which
tbe smaller towns cannot afford.
