SCHOOL MONEY
FORTHOMAS
County Schools will Draw
$15,000 from the
State.
The apportionment of the school
fund to the different counties In the
state has Just been made. Thomas
county will receive 116,764.43 The
basis of the year's apportionment Is
$2.53 per pupil of school age accord-! The Judge was walking across the
lng to the test school census. This [hall at hla home, when he tripped
orer a rug, and fall heavily to the
floor, fracturing hla hip.
Drs. Daniels and Ainsworth were
Immediately called In and cared for
the, patient. His hip was bandaged
and he was taken to bed, where he
was resting quietly at a late hour
last night.
The physicians state that owing to
the Judge's advanced years the out
come of the case Is extremely doubt
ful. The Judge la more than eighty
years of age, and such a serious ac
cident means much to him.
All of hte fellow citizens admire
and esteem this most honored resi
dent, and unite In the hope that he
may have a quick and sure recovery
from the unfortunate accident.
S.S.S.
Is 13 cents more than last year per
pupil, and. Is the largest apportion
ment ever made. The census there
fore shows 8231 children of school
age In tko county.
At the nsual rate of computing
this many children la the county
would allow the total population of
tile county to be 31,155. This lacks
bin a lew hundred of being as many
as the census of 1900 gave to Tho
mas county before Grady county was
ent off. The county of Grady will re
ceive $13,011.79 for Its 5143 child
ren of school age.
The apportionment applies only, to
counties and not to local school sys
tems All the money mentioned above
goes to the county schools. Thero
are about fifty local school systems
In the state that draw directly from
the fund. The systems at Thomas-
ville and Boston are among this num
ber.
Thomas county stands well up In
the list of the 146 counties In the!
state as only 10 counties draw more
In this'apportionment than does Tho
mas.
