Water committee was Instructed
to purchase 1000 feet of 6 inch wa
ter main.
The matter of buying\a new com
press or at the water works was re
ferred to the water committee with
power to act.
The petition of A. It. Hargrave
was referred to the light committee.
Aldermpn Gandy was requested to
go before the tounty commissioners
r the at their next meeting and request
them to repair the bridges on the
Boulevard.
The finance committee reported
that after consulting with the City
Attorney they thought it best for
the salaries to remain as they were
last year and the report was adopted.
The bids for deposits were opened
and the hid made by tho Thomasville
National Bank and the Bank of
Thomasville being the same the
treasurer was Instructed to divide
the funds of the town between them
as equally as possible.

THAW’S MOTHER OX STAND
Burst Into Tears While Testifying
of h«‘r Son’* Conduct.
New York, Mar. 6.—Mrs. William
Thaw went on the stand this after
noon. She testified that she had no
ticed the change In the conduct of
her son In 1903. The witness broke
down and cried while narrating the
change in her son following a trip
to Europe with Evelyn Nesblt. Mrs.
Thaw, following her first breakdown,
was about to cry again. Justice
Fitzpatrick here relieved the situa
tion by ordering all of her testimony
to that time read to the Jury.
District Attorney Jerome conclu
ded the long cross-examination of
Dr. Charles Wagner, alienist for the
defense, and after a few questions on
re-direct and cross-examination, the
expert was excused before the noon
recess. Jerome asked Dr. Wagner
