Hall and Wright Fight.
Atlanta, July 15.—The ‘Tie”
waa passed and blows were exchang
ed before the fight on prohibition
reached a dose last night.
The session, which had been con-
tinnona since' 9 a. in., had been
drawn out until nearly 10:30 p. m.,
when disturbances from the galleries
caused 8eaker Slaton to order them
cleared.
* This wgs done, and the acrimon
ious debate continued on the floor.
The dispute between Representa
tive Wright, of Floyd, and Represen
tative Hall, of Bibb, progressed to
the point where Mr. Wright told Mr.
Hajl,
•‘You're a liar!"
Instantly the space Between the
two ,waa crossed and blows were ex
changed. Friends quickly luter-
voned, quiet was restored, and la a
alienee almost painful Representative
Candler nrged that adjournment be
-akpn, which was done at 10:53.
No Apology Vet.
Atlanta, Ga„ July 25.—At 2:30
o'clock this afternoon, neither Joe
Hill Hall nor Seaborn Wright had
apologised to the bouse for tbe fight
they had last night, and neither has
mada any statement concerning It.

Cutting Down Expenses.
It Is stated that the Atlantic Coast
Llile Is cutting down expenses In this
section by letting the switch engine
which has been doing service here,
do similar work at Quitman and
Boston. . Heretofore, nn engine has
beta doing the work at'Quitman and
Boston and another engine waa
kept at Valdosta.
The new arrangement probably
means that there will be more delay
In placing earn at each ot these places
and consequently, more kicking
against the road.—Valdosta Times.
Working for lnstl’ute.
Rev. A. M. Bennett, professor ot

spent Sunday and Monday here. He
preached at the Baptist church Sun
day morning and raised a good
fund fqr the school among Thomas-
vllle people. The school Is a Bap
tist Institute that Is doing a great
work. Several young people from
this county are on Its rolls. It (s n
boon to students of limited means as
board and lodging can be obtained
there for twelve dollars a month.
TO MEET SOON.
Saw Mill Men to Confer Over Clos
ing of Mills.
Tlfton. Oa.. July 26.—It Is very
probable that a meeting of the Geor-
gla-Florlda Sawmill Association will
be called for some time In August,
probably between the 20th and 23th.
At the last meeting of the asso
ciation, held at Atlantic Beach, the
date of the next regular meeting was
fixed for September 10 at Jackson
vllle, but since then the condition of
the lumber market has been tuch
that the mill men are sure It will be
necessary to hold a meeting earlier
than the aecond week In September.
The sawmills of Georgia, and
Florida, will nearly all be closed
down during August and the mills In
North and South Carolina and many
other southern states will follow this
example. This Is almost certain to
bring about a condition of affairs
that will necessitate a meeting of
the lumbermen In order to discuss
the situation and take such action
the nssis- j»« may be necessary and the call for
had been this meeting will probably be Issued
I lu about two weeks.
