Tampa, Fla., Oct. 12.—Headed by
H. M. Atkinson, president of the At
lanta, Birmingham and Atlantic and
Tampa Northern railway systems, a
number of prominent officials of the
roads mentioned, arrived In the city
,yesterday morning. Aside from
President Atkinson the visitors were
C. L. Dlmmon, assistant to Presi
dent Atkinson, with headquarters in
Now York; J. R. Rowland, traffic
manager of the Atlanta, Birmingham
and Atlantic, with headquarters at
Atlanta, and Capt. W. B. Denham,
general manager of the Tampa
Northern, who returned from a trip
to New York with the party.
With the arrival of the party
came the rumor that Captan Den
ham would be appointed vice-presi
dent and general manager of the
Atlanta. Birmingham and Atlantic,
jlth headquarters In Atlanta. Ask
•ed about this matter, President At
kinson referred the matter to
Mr. Dlmon. Thet gentleman re
plied that Mr. Atkinson was general
manager of the Atlanta, Birmingham
and Atlantic, succeeding George
Dale Wadley, resigned. As Mr. At
kinson has ao time to look after the
large system, It Is believed that Cap
tain Denham will be made general
manager of the Atlanta, Birmingham
and Atlantic within a short time.
This promotion will take him to
Atlanta, which fact will be regretted
by Tampans generally.
Mr. Atkinson and other officials
were questioned as to various plans
tor the extension of the Tampa
Northern. They were not disposed
to talk on this subject, however, al
though the work of building the
line to Thomasvllle, the southern ter
minus of the Atlanta, Birmingham
and Atlantic ,1s being pushed quietly
and rapidly. It Is a question of only
a short time until the Tampa North
ers will be connected with the At
lanta. Birmingham and Atlanta at
Thomasvllle, thus making Tampa the
southern terminal of one of the
greatest trunk lines traversing the
south.
The Importance attached to Tamps
hr the capitalists ttektaa tfcs Tamps
Northers sad the Atlanta, Birming
ham and Atlantic railroads Is Illus
trated by the fact that the Tampa
Northern owns more property In and
near Tampa than the Seaboard and
Coast Line combined. The Tampa
Northern, which owns Hooker's
Point, will shortly begin the erec
tion of magnlhclent terminals on the

DOCTORS MISTAKES
Are said often te be burled six feet under
ground. But many times woman call on
their family physicians, suffering, as they
Imagine, ono from dyspepsia, another from
heart disease, another from liver or kid-
ley disease, another from nervous pros-
trmtlon, another with pain here and then,
and in thla war they present alike to
themselves and their easy-going or over-
busy doctor, sopors te diseases, for which
he, assuming them to De such, prescribes
his pills and potions. In reality, they ara
all only .iinptmru caused by some uterine
diteaso. The physician, Ignorant of ths
collar ot suffering, keeps up his treatment
antll large bills arc made. The suffering
patient gets no hotter, by reason ot tbs
wrong treatment, but probably worse. *
Editor Times-Enterprisc:—That
Kow Kicker article la a recent Issue
was an absurd ridiculous mess.
With all the articles I have seen ao
far it has been like the case of the
boy who was afraid to shoot at the
prarle chicken because he did not
know wbat end the bead was on.
Let l T s Vote.
The fact of the business la yonr

The only way to aettle this woe-be-
gone whim that has been made Into
an Issue Is by a direct vote and tbls
should settlrf the question for at
least five years.
Peace and Progress.
Then we should aspire to higher
things than cow, aotl-cow, cow, cow.
We should select men who will en
deavor to place Thomasvllle where
she belongs, np with otber towns
that are nor outstripping ns In ma
ny ways. We should get a move
on us and not let the prettiest town
In South Georgia go to the bow-wowa
aver cow-cows. Let'us elect men of
lntergrlty and purpose who can see
something besides a cow In a cab
bage patch? or a widow** children
crying for milk. Now for peace and
the onward march of Thomasvllle.
Scores Lawyers,
Now Mr. Editor I cannot pass with
out commendation, though your head
Is full of cow, your wise and timely
editorial on law anu its observance.
It Is high time the press took up
and echoed from coast to coast the
cry "Away with wurd*r«d*. remove
them, bang tnura, rid society or them
and also the lawyers, the Judge and
the jurymen, who high-banded and
willing turn loose a scorpion that de
stroys the very foundation of civili
zation and government.
The Corrupt Bar.
The lawyer, who for money,
schemes and turns loose a murderer
upon a community. Is no less a mur
derer, not of man, but of law and
order. He may whip his conscience
Into the belief that he la doing right,
but broken laws remain unavenged.
The judge who permits an honest
witness to be torn np by a skilled
lawyer Is a traitor to Justice. The
Jury men that turn a vtlllan loose can
scarcely hope for future Mis*.
Condemn the Attorney,
There has been a big Improve
ment of late, and many honest men
are sealoua for the purification of
the bar. But when we see a lawyer
stepping down from his lofty pedes
tal for paltry lucre, the press the pub
lie, pulpit and society should so con
demn him that ha will be forced to
seek higher aspirations.
’ Thirty Mnrdcrs.
Thirty murders have been com
mitted In this vicinity since 1 have
live here. The lay says they must
hang untl dead, but only four have
died on the scaffold. Now Is there
not something radically wrong.
Where Is the Jewel of consistency In
thlB land of the free when burglary
moro dangerous than murder,
where the man who steals bread gets
five years and the red handed mur
