Ulins. Lane to Lecture.
Arrangemeigs have been made by
which Prof. ChaB. Lane will deliver
cae of his famous lectures here at an
early date.
Mr. Lane is the only humorist I
ever heard who never repeats a Joke,
and although he tells several dozen
duriug an evening, you wilk never
hear an old one. His very presence
causes one to peel with laughter.
The children in this part of the
county are assuming normal propor
tions. I wish every parent could
spend at least a week in school with
his children. His mouth would be
forever sealed as to giving directions
to the teacher. People sometimes
seem very anxious about the educa
tion of their children but do more to
defeat the efforts of the tether than
any one else. They are great on hav
ing their children recite in a higher
grade than that in which he real I >
belongs. Certainly the teacher
ought to know and can have uo sol
fish object in view to put a pupil
where he belongs. Let 'em alone.
Next Saturday and Sunday will be
the regular monthly preaching days
at the Baptist church. Surely you
will get no better, nor more logical
discourses than one hears on these
monthly occasions. Try it

Of course this Is not so with every

The year 1907 has passed. Let us

Did we put forth every effort to In

Did we use the means, time and tal

When we look at the young men

nothing to do, and who seem to hare
