Many a stingy man will be helped by the new law in Minnesota, which pro hibits "treating.” THE YOUNG MEN. The problems of the future are to be solved by the young men of today, and chose questions are of such (treat and vital importance that only men imbued with the idea of a jast and almighty God can successfully cope with them, says Bird Ooler who was the recent D-moerat candidate for Governor of New York. TUe young man may have to fight for position, and perhaps for existence, but in t ha end he is bonnd to win if he is persistent and never lets go. I never won anything in my life I did not light for. The day of the passive man has gone by. That of the active, energetic man has come to stay. Be slow to decide, bnt when yon have once pointed your course to that which vou believe to be right let nothing turn .on aside. When you Bay "yes” to that which yonr judgement tells yon to be best, do not be content merely with the expression of approval, hut strive to make yonr opinion prevail, When yon say “no" to that which yonr conscience and mind teach yon to be wrong, never rest until yon are successful, or yonr last resource is exhausted iu'defeatiug it. Yon cannot always be right, but you can always try to be. Never be deter red from doing tne right thing from the fear of making enemies. A man's repu tation depends just as much upon the baseness of his enemies as the good qualities of his friends. Never promise anything yon cannot fnlfill, aud in speak ing, remember that few words, coming from a sincere heart, are of more mo ment to the world than a sophistical oration or ponderous editorial, no mat ter how great or able one may be. Mean what you say, aud say what yon mean ; in other words, leave the stamp of a m »n made in God’s image upon everything with which yon have to do. For what you want and pointers as to where to get It, read the advertising columns of The Banner. Ool. Henry G. Hester has been elec ted secretary of the New Orleans cotton exchange for the thirty-third time. The death of Thomas B. Reed re moves one of the most remarkable pub lie men the United States ever produced Dr. Hopkins had a large audience to hear his initial sermon m Athens and the people were well pleased with the new pastor. Those merchants who are not repre Bented in The Banner's trade edition to be issued this mouth will regret it when the paper is ont. Get in at once. The people of Georgia have lived more at home this year than ever before There is still room for improvement, however. We should raise all of our home supplies. Catarrh Invites Consumption It weakens the delicate lung tissues, deranges the digestive organs, and breaks <lown the general health. It often causes headache and dizzi ness, impairs the taste, smell and hearing, and affects tlie voice. Being a constitutional disease it re quires a constitutional remedy. Hood's Sarsaparilla Radically and permanently cures ca tarrh of the nose, throat, stomach, bowels, and more delicate organs. Read the testimonials. No sub-titute for Hood's acts like Hood's. Be sure to get Hood's. “I was trouSYd with catarrh 20 years. Seeing statements <>f cures by Hood’s Sar saparilla revived to try it. I-<>ur bottles entirely cured me." William Shkkman, 1030 0th St., Milwaukee, Wis. Hood’s Sarsaparilla promises to euro and hoops the nromise. Commissioner Ware admits that there are 500 clerks in the pension bureau of the United States government unfit for service. The pension bureau is a sort of almshouse. The authorities of New York city are making war on parlor matches. It is olalmed that more than a thousand New York fires were caused last year by parlor matches. A Dice sum was added to the summer school fund yesterday. The people should not allow any delay in this matter. Those who hare not done so should sub scribe what they are able to at once. But he defended himself and his policy from the dusk of one day to the dawn of another with such tact, dexterity and torce of appeal to the national sense of honor that he was acquitted of all blume by a majority of fourscore. Next day In passing through the cor ridor leading from an anteroom to the upper house one swing door opened to Ills hand and at the same moment the other to that of Lord Derby. There is only one way to enre deafness and that is by constitutional remedies. Deaf ness is caused by an inflamed condition of the mneons lining of the Eustachian Tabe. When this tabe is inflamed yon have a rambling 60nnd or imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed. Deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can he taken oat and this tabe restored to its normal condition, hearing, will be destroyed forever; nine cases ont of ten are caused by Catarrh, which is nothing bat an inflamed condi tion of the macoas surfaces. We will give One Hundred DoUars for any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh) that cannot be cured by Hall’s Catarrh Core. Send for circulars, free. F. J. CHENEY & CO„ Toledo.
