REV. JOHN D. MELL WILL
DELIVER ADDRESS TONIGHT.
THE GEORGIA-TECH GAME
IN ATLANTA TOMORROW
The Georgia Boys Will Go Up Against the Tech Aggre
gation at Brisbine Park, in Atlanta, Tomorrow
Afternoon and if Georgia Keeps Up
Her Recent Lick She’ll Win.
REV. JOHN D MELL,
The MJth Ani.iversiry of the Inde
pendent Order of Old Fellows will be
lbsetvtd in Athens in a peculiarly ap
propriate manner.
The services at the First Baptist
church tonight, will be under the au
spices of Glenn Lodge No 75. I O O
F , and Rev John D Mell. a Past Grand
of that lodge, and a most eloquent
young divine, will preach a sermon to
Odd Fellows.
There is a great deal of interest being
manifested, and a very large attendance
is expected.
The local lodges will assseinbled at
the lodge roim-of G enn Lodge at 7:30
this evening, and from there march to
the church in full regalia. As Glenn
Lodge has more than two hundred
members and as Williams' Lodge mem
bership passes tbe one hundred and
fifty mark, it Is«xpected there will be
at li ast three hundred Odd Fellows in
line B isides the largo membership of
these two strdng lodges quite a number
of visitors are ixpeoted from neighbor
ing lodges.
The sermon of Mr. Mell will be listen
ed to with a great deal of interest, as
there is no morjh charming speaker in
Athens thau ~~
When the snn sets tomorrow the re d
and black or the gold and white will
wave triumphant, and the Georgians
'birk that it will be the red and black.
It has eft been told of tbe greatness of
King Solomon, but it has also been mur
mured how cue boys from the North
state dethroned him, and the Crackets
are determined to duplicate them.
Dickinson's pets were never in better
condition The positions have been per
manently assigned, and the men are
h' lding them down in a faultless style.
Anderson has proven himself well able
to take care of the second bag, and his
snre hitting is of the kind that wins
games,
Dickinson, at the receiving end, has
been somewhat handicapped in his hand-
ilingof the willow for the past few days
on account of a sore arm, bat he Is rap
idly recovering his old time form, and
the cracking of his bat at Brisbine to
morrow wil' be an oft heard sonnd.
It is nseless to sonnd the praises of
the men on the Blab. Bower let Wake
Forest down with three measly hits,
who directly went over and swatted the
sphere in Atlanta for thirteen safe ones,
'twas a oineb,
Myddleton’s peerless twirling Friday
has won for him renown throughout
the state. One of these two will do the
twirling stunt against the blaokstrf "hs.
Fleischman handles himself like an old
one at the game, and Harman and Beav
er pnt up the article of ball that is
worthy of the veterans they are. The
fielders are of known ability and will up
hold their reputation.
The men individually are expert ball
players, and are now developing that
mnch desired but heretofore unknown
■team work.” this was manifested in
tbe Anborn game.
But much steadying down is needed
and the players most keep cool at criti
cal moments. The two defeats that
have been administered to Georgia no
donbt have helped the team wonder-
folly rather than injured it. It has
made them pnt forth their every mnscle
to win and in this spirit they have won,
and the games they are most desirions
of winning are yet to come.
A feeling of strong confidence is
among the Athens fanatios and the stu
dents, and a great crowd will go to At
lanta witness the downfall of the Tech,
and to exnlt. Georgia is fully prepared
to give them a most decisive drubbing,
and it certainly will not be unappre
ciated by true sportsmen who have
taken notice ot the altitude of the Tech
toward Georgia.
