THE BANK Eli, SUNDAY MORNING, MAY 8, 1903.
We Know Whet
Is going to happen to the little boy who
is stuffing himself with green apples. A
grown man couldn’t be induced to try
that experiment; and yet the jgrown man
will overload himself with indigestible
food for which he will pay a greater
penalty than colic. It is this careless
and thoughtless eating which is the be
ginning of stomach trouble and all its
painful consequences.
Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discov
ery cures dyspepsia and other forms of
” stomach trouble.” It restores the weak
and run-down man or woman to sound
health.

BISHOP’S VISIT
There exists in Athens no organiza
tion of which the people shoal 1 fetl
premier than the Mutual Life Insurance
Association of Georgia.
This is an organization that has made
its way up to success by perseverance
and that has demonstratod the fuct that
life insurance can be carried on right at
home just as safely and with r*s much
satisfaction as auy where iti the world.
This association was chartered Au
gust 21, 1901, and in less than two
years has grown to a point w here it now
has in operation in this stale 24 divis
ions with a mtmbftrfhip of from 200 to
1,000 in each division. There are now
in Georgia over 10 000 policy bo’ders in
this splendid association and the insur
auco in force is something over five
million dollars. This is a record of which
the company is justly proud.
Aintng tho entire membership
during the almost two years there have
been but nine deaths or less than one
dtath for each 1.000 members. The pol
icy holders have learned a valuable lea-
son, viz :. that there is no use in pay
ing large premiums to companies
nies outside of tho state when they can
get jast as good insurance with home
companies and at much low er cost.
Under the plan of this company, the
insurance i9 carried for the policy hold
ers at cost and they get the benefit of
the money that usually gors into big
salaries and surplus funds. The money
paid for premiums 6tays in the commu
nity where the policy fcoldtrs live and
thus home industry is patreniz ‘d. The
company has been proved to be absolute
ly safe, in that it has met promptly all
death claims and has on baud at all
times in the treasury of its different
divisions the money with which to meet
any death claim that may arise.
The growth of the business of this
splendid life insurance association has
been phenomenal. The ordinary pott
age bill of the association runs from two
to at ven dollars per day and shows an
increase every week.
Hon. J. L. Webb, of North Carolina,
is president and Mr. John A. Darwin,
of this city, is secretary of the associa
tion. The chief credit for the great suc
cess oi the association in Georgia is due
Mr. Darwin, who has labored with won
derful perseverance for the upbuilding
of the business.
This association is already what might
be termed a great life insurance compa
ny, and the future holds in store for it
still greater success than it has yet
achieved.
