TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE.
The firmer* of this section of the state ■will hare an opportunity to kill
two birr’s with one stone the coming fall, and the game will be worth a great
deal more than the ammunition. We refer to the matter of making exhibits
of agricultural products at the Northeast Georgia Fair to be held in tbi» city
and the State fair, to be held in Micon
Thousands of visitors will come to Athens to the Northeast Georgia Fair
this fall and it will be important that every county in this section of the state
shall have an agricultural exhibit here, as well as exhibits cf live stock, poul
try and other products of the farm. It will be rquaily import.nt that these
counties have exhibitions at the State fair to be held in Macon. The North-
e.>t Georgia fair, to be held here, opens Oct 6th.. and closes Oct. lO.h. The
S a!e fair will open in Macon on Oct 21nt, and close Oct 31st. Other fairs
will be held in the state following the Slate fair, and if the farmers should
decide to do so, they can follow these fairs np as the amusement people and
the i.orse racing people do, making their exhibits of them.
1 will h. readily seen that an txhibition can be prepared for the Athens
fair and carried to the other fairs a great deal cheaper than a separate exhibit
, uld be prepared for each fair. In any event the expense wonld net be a
gr. at one, a id ihe residents of each each connty represented would be paid
l a, k ten fold ou the investment.
Ve hope the counties of Clark-*, Jackson. Hall, Gwinnett, Walton, R-ck-
dal , N-wton, Jasper, Morgan. Putnam, Greene, Oglethorpe, Elbert. Hart,
h r aikiiu and Hanks will decide to adopt this plan. The territory could be
( v-ndeil so as to include other counties nearby which would be benefited
I j • xbibi's at the Athens fair as well as at the other fairs. The counties
mentioned should by ull means come to the Athens fair with exhibits
The Banner hopes the farmers of Clarke county will take this important
matter up at once aDd make arrangements, not only to be represented by an
exhibit at the Athens fair, bnt the Macon fair as well.
Ad quite premiums to warrant the expense and trouble incident to the
preparation of the exhibits, will be offered by both fairs
