THE FREE KINDERGARTEN.
The Banner takes pleasure iu again calling the attention of the people of
Athens to the splendid work that is being done by the Free kindergarten in
East Athens, and to the movement that has been start'd to secure one thou9*
and dollars with which to erect a suitable buildiug for this school.
There is no educational work now being doue in Athens that is aceom-
plishirg better results and noue that can possibly have a more far reaching
result. Every dollar that is invest*d in tfce proper training and education of
the little children of any ccinmaniry will yield the richest income investment
ever bore.
This work was started by the Athens Woman’s Club and if that organi-
7. at ion should never accomplish an) thing else as long as it exists it will have
(amid the lasting thanks of this community. Tne work has beeu conducted
loi g tcough to demonstrate its true vve nh and it has been a success beyond
the fondest dreams of its originators.
It n^eds a permanent home. No institution can reach its full stature or
do its b* st work until it has a homo. For the erection of such a home for the
Free Kindergaiten the sum of one thousand dollars is needed and it seems to
us that there should be uo trouble iu securing that amount. Two of the co
ble women of Athens have already subscribed one huudred dollars each to the
fund and that leaves only eight hundred dollars more to be secured.
If a f«w more of our philanthropic citizens will investigate the workings
of tins institution and see what good it is doiug here, the necessary money
will be quickly forthcoming. L *t this movement be pushed for all it is worth
and let the Free Kindergarten have a home of its own with every necessary
equipment.

LET US NOT LAMENT THE DIMINUTION OF FAMILIES. LET
US RATHER REMEMBER THAT OVERPRODUCTION IN A FAMILY
IS ONE OF THE CHIEF CAUSES OF ASYLUMS AND POORHOUSES.
Let ns remember that wise parents will consider how many
children they can take proper care oil, to how many they can
give the nurture and the culture which will be worthy the incar
nat'd S"til and which will enable that soul through its body to serve
humanity.
