The lirst game of real basket hall
for the season was played at the Y.
C. A. last night by a team from
the University and a team from town,
ending up with a score of 21—18 in
favor of the University team.
Both teams showed up in fine form.
It made one think of the clashes that
tame last season as some old men
who donned the uniforms of red and
black last year did some nice work in
the game.
Griffith was at. his old stand, cen
ter. and it is needless to say that
he played his old position well.
Derrick was in the game all the
time for what was in it.
Von Sprocket! played his part like
m old-timer
F rt and Kevin were new men but
lid not play the game like they were
new.
For tlu* city team Forbes did fine
work, as did Heldler.
All are es]»ecially interested in the
team that will wear the red and black
this season, lor it is they who will
win or lose honors for Che city as
well as the University. Now, with
the material that showed up last night
and with other good material that
not shown tip yet. it looks like
tiler will undoubtedly put out a
team that will bring honors upon Af.i-
s. the University and himself.
Now il is up to the student body and
the town people to get in behind the
team with the spirit and you may rest
assured Mr. Heidler and his team will
do their part in all struggles to come.
