Governor Wilson Take* Steps to Pre
vent Further Lawlessness There.
1-ouisville, Ky., December 17.—Fp-
on recommendation of Adjutant Gen
eral Johnston. Governor Wilson today
ordered Company H. of the First
, Kentucky militia, to leave Louisville
| Tuesday morning for Hopkinsville.
| Colonel W. 11. Haldeman and daptaiu
It. J. McBride will accompany Com
pany 11, to look over the situation.
Governor Wilson this afternoon issued
a statement from Frankfort in which
lie says;
"Adjutant General Johnston reports
to me that, the people in Hopkinsville
are under a severe strain, receiving
threatening letters, and that the Im
pression prevails that the men con
nected with the last attack are in
readiness to make another, that facts
reported by reliable persons support
the belief, and that a distressing state
of paralysis prevails in Hopkinsville.
He includes a signed request from
