.William VLughn Moody's “Tho
Great Divide,” was seen at the Sa
vannah Theatre last night with Les
ter Lonergan playing the part of
Stephen Ghent and Miss Adelaide
Nowak in the character of Ruth Jor
dan.
Those patrons of the theatre in Sa
vannah who have wanted a change
from the light comedies and the friv
olous musical extravaganzas which
have been entertaining theatre-goers
here in the recent past undoubtedly
got what they wanted.
The play is intensely dramatic. As
presented last night, it gripped the
attention of the audience from the
first and held it until the finale of
the last act. Mr. Lonergan gave to
the part of Stephen Ghent an intelli-
gen and earnest conception that
brought to mind the boundless West
and emphasized the great divide be
tween himself and Ruth Jordan, the
young woman from the East, who ha 1
been bound to him by a promise whi -h
she found hard to keep and in the
keeping of which there lay much tin
happiness. Miss Nowak, ns Ruth
Jordan, possessed an indivtdu ility
that left an impress ii[>on the entire
audience.
The supporting company was a very
good one. indeed, and the throe acts
of the play were enjoyed.

HEAD & McMAHAN
The finest, coffee suhscitnte ever
made, has recently been produced by
Dr. Shoop, of Racine, Wis. You don't
have to boil it twenty or thirty min
utes. “Made in a minute.” says the
doctor. "Health Coffee" is really the
closest coffee imitation yet produc
ed. Not a grain of real coffee in it
either. Health Coffee Imitation is
made from pure toasted cereals or
grains, with malt, nuts, etc. Really it
would fool an expert were he to un
knowingly drink it for coffee. G. H.
Williamson.
