THE BANNER, SATURDAY MORNl NG, DECEMBER 21, 1907.
MARKETS
GRIFFITH A
WELCH’S
COTTON LETTER.
Athens, Oa.. I)*’! - . 20.
The ginners' re]»)rt issued early
this morning shows 0,281,000 bales
ginned to December 14. Strange to
say, the New York crowd construed
it bullish and January went up front
10.23 to 10.51. If it had not been fo 1-
the nearness to the holidays, no doubt,
the figures would have shown a bet
ter rise.
There seems to be but one bear nr
gument now, and that is the niouev
question, and as that improves we
may look for corresponding improve
ment in prices on cotton.
Unless there is au immense quant i
ty of cotton held in the seed, the re
port this morning would indicate n
crop of aliout 11.000.000 hales.

Irregularity is bad in every department of . life, in me^ls. in sleeping hours,
but especially when it is a question of womanly habit. Not only is it a sign of
female disease, but, unless cured, it will cause dangerous troubles, because of
the poisons thus allowed to remain in the system.

Believes That the Two Georgia Post
mistresses Will Not Get Offices
Back.
Washington. D </.. December 20.-
Representallv.; Hell called upon Post
master General Meyer today to as
certain what tnd been done in the
Georgia postoffice cases He was in
formed that no decision had Imhui
reached in regard to withdrawing
the appointments of Messrs. Scott and
McCollum, which have been sent to
the senate ant held up there upon ob
jections entered hy the Georgia sen
ators.
Representative Bell does not share
the belief of others who have interest
ed themselves in behalf of ihe Geor
gia postmistresses who Iiave been dis
missed. He believes it is the purpose
of the potsoflice department and of
the president to have the new ap
pointments stand.
Furthermore, Mr. Bell believes the
president has known all along of the
activity of Mr. Hitchcock in -regard
to-southern appointments and of their
political significance, and approved
of the first assistant postmaster gen
eral’s action.
There is a probability that Senatois
Foraker and Dick, of Ohio, may aid
the Georgia senators in holding up
the Georgia postoffice appointments,
being moved by a desire to block the
program of the administration in re
gard to the south.
