Other Committees to be Organized.
It is not the plan to keep any boy
off a committee, but as fast < s boys
will express- a willingness to work
new committees of six boys each will
be organized and find a family to care
for.
The meeting will be Sunday after
noon at 3:30 in the Y. M. C. A. head
quarters, and all boys should attend.
No Men’s Meeting Sunday.
On account of the dedication of
the new Christian church Sunday af
ternoon, the Men’s Meeting of the Y.
M. C. A. in the habit of attending the
same are requested to unite with the
congregation of the Christian church
in their congratulatory services,
which have been set for Sunday af
ternoon. Rev. Stanley R. GTubb and
the workers in his church have al
ways been loyal friends to the work
of the Y. M. C. A., and the religious
committee feels that at this time it is
their privilege, as well as their duty
to call off their meeting and to unite
with the brethren of the Christian
church in praise to God for the ded
ication of this wonderful temple,
which stands as an expression of the
faith and of the spirit of denial of
self on the part, of the members of
this loyal flock of the Good Sepherd.
The next Men’s Meeting will be
held Sunday afternoon, December
26th, at the Elite theatre, and an at
tractive speaker is in mind for that
occasion. This will be the last Sun
day of the old year, and the men are
requested to bear it in mind and to be
ready to turn out a large attendance
at that time.
(By Y Me. A.)
The members of the Boys’ Depart
ment of the Y. M. C. A. of Athens and
the boys attending the Sunday after
noon religious services, conducted by
the committee composed of Messrs.
Morton Hodgson, Abit Nix and John
Kelley, have decided to observe
Christmas this year by bringing good
cheer and happiness into the homes
of some needy families.
There have already been organ
ized seven committees with six boys
on each committee and with one of
the odder boys as chairman of each
group of six to work the plan. Bach
committee will be responsible for see
ing that one family will be looked
after. Most of the committees have
already found their family and are
now investigating what is needed in
the way of provisions, clothes and
I those beautiful things of the Christ
mas-time, which bring joy and happi
ness into the hearts of the children.
For the past three Sundays the
boys have been taking up a thanks-
offering at these meetings for the pur
pose of accumulating a fund with
which to have money in hand to help
in this work. This fund has been
added to by the splendid gift of the
management oi the Elite theatre, who
donated $25.00 to the hoys for this
purpose.
Next Sunday, the last meeting be
fore Christmas will be held. Miss
I Millie Rutherford, Georgia’s great
I woman, will address the boys at this
I time, and will speak on the subject,
I “The True Christmas Spirit.” Every
I boy in this city, who is alive and
I alert to the best things, should hear
I this address, and every boy should
| deny himself something and be ready

The New York market closed for

(By Associated Press.)
New York, Dec. 16.—Relatively
easy cables were followed by a de
cline of 3 to 11 points in the cotton
market here at the opening today,
with January selling off to 11.99,
March to 12.25, and May to 12.60.
There appeared to be a very good de
mand on this setback, however, par
ticularly from houses with Liverpool
connections, and prices soon rallied,
with March selling up to 12.32 or with
in 3 points of last night’s closing fig
ures before the end of the first hour.
Firmness in New Orleans and re
ports of steady southern spot markets
late yesterday probably helped the
rally. Private cables reported hedge
