appeared at the head of the stair-case
and descenued to the lower floor,
where the guests were grouped about
informally. Mrs. William H. Bolling,
the bride’s mother, gave her away.
The president stood to the right of
the clergyman and the bride to the
left. To the Episcopal marriage serv
ice the president made his responses
first, then the, bride making hers. Af
ter the bride promised to “Km-, cher
ish and obey,” the president placed a
plain gold band ring on her finger.
At the buffet supper Mrs. Wilson
cut the wedding cake. She was mar
ried in a traveling dres3 of black vel
vet, with skirt of walking length, and
a waist primmed in several shades of
bine.

PRESIDENT AND BRIDE.
Washington, Dec. 18.—President
Willson and his bride will spend their
honeymoon at Hot Springs, Va., their
private car attached to a special leav
ing the capital for Hot Springs about
11 tonight.

the home of the humblest American.
The clergyman used a prayerbook
once the property of the bride’s fa
ther. Several guests were added at
the last minute, including Matilda
Braxton, an old negro "mammy” of
Wytheville, who had been a. servant
in the bride’s family all her life.

Clarke county to keep future viola

Henry S. West of the city court of
Athens yesterday, discussing the end
of the near beer business in this city
and the prospective effectiveness of
the new law which becomes operative
May 1st
Judge West said that the people
had determined to try real prohibition
and that as long as the laws are on
the books he will, so far as his court
Is concerned, enforce the law. He
sal d he desired to put all on notice
that he will send to the gang every
one convicted in his court of illegally
selling beer or whiskey in Clarke.

The president, who had dinner at
the White Hbuse, as usual, at seven,
arrived at the Galt house about eight.

Galt residence at 8:30 tonight, leav
ing afterwards for Hot Springs, Va.,
where they expect to spend their

until after New Year’s, unless devel
opments necessitate the president’s
return to Washington.
Two capltol autos were sent ahead
to Hot Springs and the pair expect
to spend the days motoring, golfing,
and walking over the mountain trails.
A stenographer, with secret service
men, accompanied the. party and the
president will keep in touch With the
White House over a special wire.
