A NERVOUS WRECK
From Three Tears’ Suffering. Says
Cardoi Made Her WeU.
Texas City, Tex.—In an interesting
statement, Mis. 0. H. Schili, of this town,
says: "For three jrjara I suffered untold
agony with my head. I wa* unable to
do any of my work.
I just wanted to sleep all the time, for
that was the only ease I could get, when
I was asleep. I became a nervous wreck
just from the awful suffering with my
head.
I was so nervous that the least noise
would make me jump out of my bed. I
had no energy, and was unable to do
anything. My son, a young boy, had to
do all my household duties.
1 was not able to do anything until /
took Cardui. 1 took three bottles in all,
and it surely cured me of those awful
headaches. That has been three years
ago, and 1 know the cure is permanent,
tor I have never had any headache since
taking Cardui. ..
Nothing relieved me until I took Cardui
ft did wonders for me."

And Entente Allies
Fraternal Alliance
(By Associated Press.)
London, Feb. 8.—The ’’Brltlsh-Am-
erican and Entente Allies Fraternal
Alliance" is the name of a new pa
triotic association which was inaug
urated at a luncheon attended recent
ly by the Lord Mayor: the Greek
Minister; the Roumanian Minister;
H. H. Buckler, representing the Amer
ican Ambassador, Prince Borghese,
representing the Italian Ambassador,
and other prominent city men.
The chairman said the object of
alliance was to associate the men and
women of all nations comprised in the
Entente in a common bond of mutual
interest and that Its immediate pur
poses were:
To pledge themselves to a stead
fast support of the government in the
prosecution of the war to a righteous
vlstory, to overthrow Prussian mili
tarism and render It incapable of
further evil.
To advocate the 'formation of a
League of Nations to help in winning
that victory and afterwards to ensure
for the world an abiding peace.
To decline to admit Germany or any
of her allies to that league, or to sort
with them in any way until the crimes
committed in this war had been ex
piated.

five work. Ttfere must be no lost mo
tion. Every llok must be made to
count in answering the call of our na
tion and her allies, who are calling ott
to the farmer “Give us bread! Give us
clothing!"
The best way to economize labor
on the farm today is to produce more
per acre. The southern farmer will
act most unwisely if he tries to culti
vate too mucb land with tbe present
supply of labor. A better plan would
be not to increase the acreage devoted
to cultivated • crops, but to produce
more per acre, by the use of fertiliz
er, manure, good seed and improved
machinery, all of wbicb will save lg-
bor.
One ton of good fertilizer will do
more work In growing crops than will
whereas, when Invested in fertilizer. It
gives him a net increase of $239.00.
Thus it can be seen the tremendous
advantage of supplementing labor
with liberal applications of plant food
Likewise an improved piece of ma
chinery that makes It possible to cul-
tivate an acre of cotton or corn with
perhaps half the labor ordinarily em
ployed, and cultivate It better, should
be looked to st tbis time as a source
(ft help In fsclng tbe labor shortage.
Good-seed of a strain known to do
well in s community will do mucb to
ward increasing yields, without an in-
crease of acreage.
Is this not a time when tbe farmer
should be sure to use these three crop
makers, to the fullest extent, to off
set the labor shortage?

Sunday School Lesson

We have been studying, wltn
Mark’s Gospel as a text-book, tho
llfo of the Official Jesus, of the

In all the lessons of the year so

Today's title is "Jesus Chooses

It Is peculiarly Interesting to every
student of men to go over the list of
the candidates for places as officers
In this first Chrlst-lan training camp;
to run over the dally schedule of tbe
work; to note the effect of the teach
Ing and training on each man—differ
snt In every case; to watch the de
velopment of the qualities which
must later be the elements of great
ness In official SERVICE and the
mettle and metal that should stand
the SACRIFICE.
It Is Interesting to follow the
Bchool of dlsciplesblp through to the
last day of the term—when He gave
them their commissions. In the ac
count of the selection it waa said
that "he selected twelve to be with
him and that ho might send them
forth to preach his gospel." On the
final school day when he commis
sioned them he said to them; "Go, ye,
into all the world and preach my
gospel—and I am with you” always,
everywhere, even unto the end of the
world.
And it is interesting to follow
them, with their commissions, and
see them take their places In the
army that was to conquer the world,
the flesh and the devil, that waa to
establish the New Kingdom of Truth
—and to find that with every one of
the Commissioned Officers there was
this one main vital current in the
official position—that that current
was SERVICE.
It Is also significant that in this
line of Service there was at the end
of the way for almoat every one of
these Officers the supreme Sacrifice
—the following of the Master to the
very Cross and its bitterness aud
its Supreme TRIUMPH,
