Foreword In Spring Styles In Spring Suits
£arju Sprint) Hiocks
These suits come as ad
vance heralds to tell ns that
Spring is on the way and that
certain very definite changes
will be brought in with the
first migration of the birds.
The chief noticeable dis
tinction in these garments
traces its inspiration to the
military, yet so feminized that
it is difficult to trace a true line
of ancestry. Jackets seem to
have a tendency to end in
points and belts are popular.
The linings of most jackets
are the one thing contradic
tory of simplicity, for these
are almost universally of gay
silks. A narrowness, or evev
a fullness prevails in most all
skirts. You will like these'
new suits we are sure. Pretty
shades of gray, Copenhagen
blue, Pekin blue, navy blue,
sand, browns, silvertone and
blacks. Every suit shown is
right up to the minute in style,
quality, materials and expert
workmanship.
—SUITS PRICED $12.50 to $50.00—

London. Feb. 9.—(rcrresrondenco
of the Associated Press.)—Sergeant-
Major Flora Sandes, an Irish wom
an who for two years has been serv
ing with the gallant Serbian army.
Is now In London on leave of ab
sence for a few weeks.
"In August, 1914, I went to Serbia
as a nurse," she said when asked to
tell something of her war experien
ces. “After the terrible retreat In
which I took part I joined the Regi
mental Ambulance. When cut oif
from that I obtained permission to
join tho Serbian army as a private.
"For two years I was In the thick
of most of the fighting. At the tak
ing of Hill 1212 (Macedonian front)
a band grenade exploded near me
and I fell badly wounded. My com
pany which was In advance of our
main body was outnumbered by the
Bulgarians, but they refused to fall
back when ordered to do so, declar
ing they would not leave me to the
mtrey of the enemy.
"While I was being dragged off to
safety through the snow they re
mained behind, fighting a rearguard
action. The next day our trojjs at
tacked again and drove the Bulgar
ians out of their trenches. In them
tney found tho dead bodies of a num
ber of our men, each one with hla
throat cut from ear to ear. That Is
the favorite method of disposing of
prisoners."
It was after the capture of Hill
1212 that tbe Irish Amazon while
lying In hospital was awarded by the
Serbian crown prince the Kara-
George decoration which is the Ser
bian equivalent of the British Vic
toria Cross. Three other decorations
she has received for bravery In the
