' The Piedmont hotel Is tbe head
quarters for the Georgia committee
ot the Southern Forestry congress,
and this committee met a day ahead
of time In order to rake up some
semblance ot forestry organization
for Georgia. Not much organized
work has been done in Georgia, but
preliminary work has been done by
individuals, and the Georgia Land
owner's association has done a good
work along lines of conservation ot
timber interests. By hammering ever
lastingly, some of thp national for
estry people have about convinced the
large landowners ot Georgia that the
cut-over lands which are not fit for
cultivation Vlfl yield, reforested, ten
per cent on a valuation of ten dollars
per acre.

the bills by Mr. Beckham, of Dough
