OFFICERS SEEKING
STILL OPERATORS
Following the ra.d on the mam
moth 287 gallon still in Greene coun
ty Thursday afternoon by Athens
federal agents and the failure to
capture those guilty of operating
the still, an investigation under the
supervision of the federal authorities
was begun Friday afternoon and. ac
cording to the U. S. Marshall, Henry
Miller, it is the belief of the federal
authorities that the law breakers
will be located and captured by the
first of the week.
The negro, who through fear dis
closed the whereabouts of the still, is
known, his name being Robert Jack-
son. his arrest is exported momen
tarily. It is believed that through
him, the owners and operators of the
Still will be hrouf'ht to light and
subsequently brought to justice.
Federal authorities stated . Satur
day morning that the 6.000 gallons
of beer and 100 gallons of corn whis
key that were discovered in the prox
imity of the still have been destroy
ed. The beverage was poured out
right at the scene of its manufacture
and according to those who hajcj
visited the regions since, the entire
atmosphere for miles around is very
sweetly fragrated.
