POLICEMEN, ARMED WITH
RIOT GUNS BEGIN HUNT
FOR DARING CRIMINALS
DENVER, Colo. — Leaping from an automobile
w hk'h Lad drawn up alongside of a federal .reserve
delivery wagon at the main entrance of the Denver
Mint, and shooting toward four Federal Reserve
guards who were emerging from the building ear
ning $200,000 in $5 bills, two bandits at 10:40 Mon
day morning shot and killed Charles Linton, one of
the guards, seized the entire consignment.of money,
sprang into their motor car and escaped. The third
member of the bandit group remained at the wheel
of the automobile. One of the bandits is believed to
have been shot. •

Within a few minutes after the news was heard
petitions were being signed urging the Atletic
Board not to accept the resignation.
Herman J. Stegeman, for the past three years head—
coach at the University of Georgia has resigned that
position to become associate professor. of physical
education as a member of the faculty, it was an
nounced Monday night at the annual footbhll ban
quet at the Y. M. C. A.
