SUNDAY, MARCH 4, 192».’ TOE BANNER-nERAtP. ATI1ENS. GEORGIA wm We Invite You to The undersigned citizens of Athens, knowing that no city can prop erly f unction without a civic organization of the type of a modern Chamber of Commerce and realizing that only a small minority has made up the Athens Chamber of Commerce in past years, have pledg ed our membership to a Reorganized Chamber to which we believe, the great majority of our citizens, both men and women, will give their support. ’ ' . For fifteen years or more our Chamber of Commerce has been supported by the interest of only a few men, with contributions scarcely sufficient to pay the salary of a Secretary. This plan has en abled the Ch*amber to do very little effective work for the advance ment of the city. To achieve REAL SUCCESS we must build an en tirely new organization on an entirely new plan. This plan includes the election of a new Board of Directors by the following method. Each member will receive by mail a list of the en tire membership with a ballot on which he or she may nominate Four teen Directors. When all nominations are in and counted by a commit tee on election, the twenty-eight receiving the largest vote will be de clared the nominees. A printed ballot containing these twenty-eight names will then be re-submitted to the entire membership and the fourteen receiving the highest vote will be declared elected Directors. Thes£ Directors will then elect officers who will guide the Chamber’s activities for the ensuing year. . The Board of Directors will adopt a program of work for the Chamber to carry out the GREATEST NEED for the advancement of Athens as this need appears to the entire membership. There are three N or four major projects critical to the welfare of Athens. What are these projects? It is for the membership to decide. How? By forum discussions and frequent conferences. When the program is determined, then .the entire membership will join hands to bring about its accomplishment. Cooperation we must have if Athens is to progress. We cannot stand still. We must go forward or backwards. Which will it be? There are hundreds of you, who read this, who have not had op portunity to join with us. We know you love Athens as much as we do and we invite you to join with us in making a new organization that will bring real prosperity to Athen If your name is not here, come to the Conference with us tomor row morning (Monday) at 10 o’clock at the Georgian Hotel. You will see a new spirit that will give you greater faith in Athens and our fu ture. We, three hundred and twenty-nine strong, representing every line of business, trade and profession, have joined this movement for a greater Athens through a greater Chamber of Commerce. We want you to have your place in our ranks. Next Sunday a complete list of the membership will be published. WE WANT YOU WITH US —A— Bludwittc Bottling Company -E- . Abney, 0. W. Atihby; Martin J.
