HABTWELL NINE HEBE
Coach Brown’s Team to
Battle Hartwell High
School on Sanford Field
Friday.
(By HAL JACKSON)
The Athens High-Hnrtwell base
ball game which will be played on
Sanford field Friday afternoon at
three-thiry will be without a doubt
tho best high school game that
Athens fans have seen In many a
moon. Tho local aggregation will
l»o seeking revenge for a defeat
handed them by these lads somo
time ago in their own backyard.
This loss is the only game that j
stands on the lost column and the j
Red and White lads aro determined •
to wipe out this blot with a de
cisive victory ovfer the Hart county
lads Friday. i
For the past few days since the
cancellation of the Commerce,
game the club has been down at;
work in preparation for this weok
end setto. Hard nine innings of.
practice battles have been the bill
for the last two days. The crew
will go through a light workout
Thursday and then conies that re-,
venge party Friday. A big change
in the lineup will no doubt greet
the fans tomorrow as Coach Brown
baa dug up some new' talent in the
past week and will probably Insert
these lads in Friday's lineup.
The Shift will come in the infield
prohably due to some of the vet
erans failure to Stand the pace amd
alsc the phenomlnal rise of several
reserves. Just what positions will
be changed could not be said •
The pitching assignment for Fri
day's battle will no doubt lie be
tween Hackett, the southpaw curve
ball artist and AUgood the Brown
ies' right hand speed ball king.
Both of these chunkers are in raro
shape in that they have not work
ed in a game since last Friday.
Both of these lads showed their
wares on the trip to the Hart
county capitol and seem capable
of holding these lads with proper
oupport. They are going up against
a heavy hitting club in this Hart-
eli aggregation.
Since tho Georgia Bulldogs bre
in Alabama mixing things with
the Auburn Tigers' It ‘is thought
that the best crowd ot the seasoiT
will be out for this- battle. The
home crew doesn't promise to show
you a victory for themselves but
they do promise to show you a club
that fights tq the last ditch and a
team that has bitten the dust but
once this spring.
A very small admission price,
25 cents, will be charged. Cbme out
and see the next door neighbors kid
show his stuff. The buttle will be
called promptly at tho hour named
above.
