I never saw finer oats and wheat now heading, and it is so even that it looks as if a planer had been run over the field. His every crop has been planted and his fields are smooth and culti vated like a garden. It is worth a trip a long distance for a farmer to visit Mr. O’Kelly and see Ills crops and fields. It is really encouraging to visit the beautiful country around Win- terville, and you will return home hopeful and enthused over the ag ricultural future of our section.* The citizens are noted for their hospitality and finer, better and more up-to-t’nte farmers are not found. That section is a^feplendid advertisement for Athens and this section. It’s farms show what can bf* accomplished by improved methods and intensive cultivation. Death Claims Mr. S. Through experiments with chlo rine gas army chemists have es tablished the fact that epidemics of influenza, gripe or colds can be checked .almost instantly by intro duction of the gas preatly weaken ed into the rooms occupied by thorn afflicted. Experiments linger direction of Lieut. Col. Edward B. Vedder of the Army Medical Corps at Edge- wood are said to have demonstrated that mustard gas is a specific for for tuberculosis. As a result of experiments with burning gas, known as Lewisite, army chemists have evolved what seems to be an efficacious remedy, if not an infallible cure, for pare sis and locomotor ataxia- Lewis-* ite is composed of arsenic and acetylene gns. Dr. Lovenhart has the records of some fnrtf-two cases of persons committed to insane hospitals with paresis, which have come under his treatment by this method.
