CANOE
RACE8 #
Tuesday we had canoe races,
one nice for the small boys and
another for the medium else boys.
These races were run off In fine
shape, every boy putting all he
hfcd into it. Shack No. 10 won the
race In both classes. These races
wore not run for fried chicken but
for the good exercise that om
celves In paddling a ertnoe.
The last two weeks ot the boys
camp starts Wednesday. The lead
era haye fixed out a good program
m> that there will be activities
going on all the time. We expect
to make the last two weeks a go.
Swimming and canoe races will be
held most *rery. day. Tho new boys
that have not been through the
power house will have a chance
to go through It. The older boys
will UHte an all day hike to see
the new dam that is being con
Stnicted. It is a wonderful sight
to behold and anyone that has not
seen it certainly *has missed a lot.
It shows how wonderful 'the mind
of man really Is.

Finishing Makes Simple Blouse
' Distinctive
most popular blouse for sum-

belt. The yoke which also forms
the sleeves is a becoming feature.
Worn with a pleated skirt this
special blouse is the absolutely
proper thing for summer wear.
It has an air of semi-tailored
trimneas due to the plain yoke and
the details of finishing. OR* ol
these details—the finishing of tha
slit sleeve—can be dbno simply and
effectively according to throe di
rections.
The slit la bound withf a con
trasting color and the sleeve faced
at the samo time. The binding la
handled in the same way and a
bound button-hole la made.
Btfore sewing the sleeves to the
blouse, lay the sleeves flat on the
table and baste the colored facing
■ - ,
to tha sleeve, right sides together.
Mark the line to be cut with a
basting thresd and stitch one-
fourth inch from each and, cutting
diagonally to each corner. Draw
the facing through tha cut (figure
2) and baste it beck, baiting from
tho right side to form an even
fold. At each end, tiny pleats aro
formed which most be pressed (let
(figure S). ....
A fine line of stitches should bo
put around the binding to keep It
In place. This facing should be
used as a tinging for the lower
part of the sleeve when the blouse
is finished. Turn up the bottom
of the eleeve on the hem line and
■Ilpatitch the facing over this hem
aa shown In figure 4.
This careful flnlehing adds dis
tinction to an otherwise simple
blow*.

Last week we bad Dr. Wilkinson
to talk to us at the morning Bible
classes. This week we have Dr.
Hill with us, and he has been giv
ing us some very Inspiring talks.
The hoys are deriving a great good
from the Bible classes and they
-Jo got hesitate to tell you so. If
anyone should ask tho boys what
good they received from this
camp they would tell you that
the Bible classes helped them
more than anything else. If this
Is true, you can Judge for yourself

make out ot these boys. At the
evening vesper services the hoys
will take charge. One shack con-
