A Thought
Finally, brethren, wl atsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are 1 onest, whatsoever things
are just, whatsoever th ngs are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whi tsoever things are of
good report) if there hi any virtue, and if there
be any praise, thinh cn these things.—Phil. 4:8.

Dairy cattle and the '(Infry business can be made

and butter produced in th* section is nott sufficient •

section is ideal for cattle rltising and it is less expen

bard winters am! bare paatires, except for a few
months during the year. Here it is an all the year-

„ RECALL OF GENErIl LEONARD WOOD ,
'v The recall of General Llonard Wood, Governor of
.the Philippine Islands, uriAd by both houses of the
'••'island legislature, is not bVlicved will be considered
""Seriously by President Harping-
Sometime since general dissatisfaction arose among
the cabinet members and alresolution passed by them
called on tho legislative libdy of the islands to de
mand the recall of GencralJWood. It was thought
that the differences mightJbe patched up and that
the members of the cabinet who had resigned might
be induced to withdraw thtlr resignations and restore
harmony in the qfficinl family. But it seems that
the dissatisfaction with General Wood has grown
serious and nothing short ip - his removal from tho
Governor’s office will satisfy tho Filipinos.
Governor Wood has inalgurated many radical
ngca in the form of gofernment in the Islands,
his system of governmlnt is democratic and for
best interest of the peo|ie of that country. How-
ir, his efforts to civilize fie country and make for
them laws and discipline foi the betterment ‘of the
■"zenship has been misunlcrstood and the leaders
determined lo get rid oi the American governor,
'» possible. V
i do not believe, howeier, that President Hnrd-
is any intention or deilrc to recall Governor
and we do not believa that it would be for the
interest of the Philippiilcs to change the system-
government inaugurated ly General Wood. He
qualified and after making a study of conditions
rer there, we don’t believe that he would recom
mend or undertake to foster upon those people any
legislation which would wort to their disadvantage.
His experience and knowledge of conditions gained
since he has been in that couittry certainly fit him for
improving civic, health and rriiral conditions.
