an inspiring message
An Interested and appreciative
audience greeted Mrs. - John
Jenkins, when she gave her second
talk on ’’Christian Education Ii
the Home”* to the Missionary So
ciety of the First Baptist church
i Monday afternoon.
She gave a brief review of her
first discussion, In which
brought out the fact that
children are no longer Immune
munlty life, nnd from this fact she
pointed out. our duty, ns dtlzenx,
to take part in purtfynlg the com
munity atmosphere so as to make
it wholesome and beneficial for
the children.'for It is through them
that we are given our “second
chance" to redeem our own lost
opportunities nnd mistakes.
Her second talk emphasized the
church and Sunday school ns fac
tors in the Child's Christian ed
ucation, and she made a strong ap
peal to the women to try tp brim
back the “family unit" or
“family pew*’ in the church scr
vice. The definite work of th<
Sunday School teacher was
marlzed under two heads; teaching
the facta of the Bible and thin an
appreciation of Jestis Christ and
knowledge and lovo for Him.
The early Jewish Bible school*
were discussed and commended
and the catechism of our child
hood was referred to ns a “treas
ure house” wliere memory tfem-
were stored from which one mfgh*
draw strength for the strain and
stress of later years.
The address Closed with a beau
