Facts About the “Homecoming”
Day and the Contesting Teams
TWo ancient and honorable rivals meet on the grid
iron when the the University of Virginia and .the Univer
sity of Georgia football teams battle on Sanford Field
Saturday afternoon in their annual classic.
It’s “homecoming” day in Athens—and the Univer
sity—and hundreds of old Georgia boys will be back. It
will be a colorful day here, one worth going miles and
miles to enjoy.
Athens is bedecked in the colors of both colleges—
the Red and Black of Georgia and Orange and Jilue of
the Old Dominion. Both are flying in friendly breezes
and a spirit of keen rivalry but strongest friendship will
prevail.
The game itself will get under way at three o’clock
on Sanford Field and the public has been requested to
be in their seats by 2:30.
There are plenty of seats. They will be on sale at
Costa’s until noon Saturday and at the box office on the
field after that hour. j„ f
Preceding the gamo will be the big parade^at 11
o’clock by the Georgia cadet corps of R. O. T. C.’s. This
parade will be followed by Armistice day ceremonies
from the platform of the Bhackelford Building.
In addition to the football attraction of the day will
be the Special dollar bargains offered by the merchants
who arc participating in the Trade Month. In this con
nection there will be five $20 gold pieces awarded at
noon in front of the campuo gate on Broad street. Hold
ers of coupons are urged to be there at that time.
Saturday is one of the big days in Athens for tK%
year and there will be something doing amost every
minute of the day and for all people who come here no
matter whether they are football enthusiasts or not.
Come to Athens Saturday and mingle with the
crowds!
Be at the prize awarding at noon-
