disputes the claim of the University of Georgia and
of Auburn that the first football game in the south
was played between the two teams representing them
in Atlanta, Ga., during the fall of 1892. How many
other southern games had been played at that time
is not known here, but Virginia records show that
the Orange and Blue eleven was organized in 1888
and that by the end of 1892 at least 15 games had

Gordy and Harbuck have both led
the local elevens on the field, the
former captaining this year's team.
Harbuck weighs over tho one

ground gainer In high school cir

ends with the greatest of ease, side
steps with the best cf them, pass

the locals.
Frank Gordy tips the scales
well over the one hundred and
ri venty five mark and has played
four Jam-up years as tackle. He
has proven a tower of strength in
the line with Cecil "Heavy" Dunn
who pjays a guard next to * him.
Clarence Kendrick, the other of
the forwards to come to Athens,
captains the scrub outfit, is a fine
linesman, but was kept out of the
varsity Une-up by a lack of ex
perience. He weighs about 170,
too.

string quarterback and has proven
himself to be a heady, little field
